About the Platform Engineer Role

Thredd is looking for a Platform Engineer to join their incumbent Platform function! The fintech industry is fast paced and constantly looking at new ways to innovate. To keep up, we at Thredd are consistently developing new ways we can service our clients and we need to build secure, scalable, and observed infrastructure, to keep up with the demand.  


As a Platform Engineer you will build and maintain our AWS cloud infrastructure and work with software engineering teams. Additionally, you will work closely with our software engineers helping to create CI/CD pipelines and ensure they can self-serve their own environments.


What you will do as a Platform Engineer at Thredd

 

  • Harness the power of Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure as code (IaC), transforming the way our infrastructure is built and maintained.
  • Design and build robust AWS infrastructure that scales effortlessly to support our global payment processing and issuance services, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Continuously maintain and optimize our AWS platform to deliver unparalleled performance and reliability.
  • Lead by example by creating and delivering hands-on prototypes that showcase cutting-edge cloud engineering practices.
  • Perform in-depth root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences and enhance system resilience.
  • Design and implement advanced monitoring solutions that proactively detect potential issues, focusing on symptoms rather than just outages.
  • Innovate and implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate and streamline our build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Develop and execute deployment strategies that minimize or eliminate downtime, employing techniques such as blue-green deployments and canary releases.
  • Collaborate closely with development and QA teams to ensure smooth and efficient processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


What you need to be a successful Platform Manager at Thredd

  • Bring your extensive experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to the table, showcasing your expertise in building and maintaining robust, scalable systems.
  • Leverage your hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform, to revolutionize how we manage and provision cloud infrastructure.
  • Dive deep into the world of AWS serverless architecture, applying your profound knowledge to design and implement cutting-edge, scalable solutions.
  • Utilize your experience with multi-tier traditional application architectures and your knack for service decomposition and microservices to create highly efficient and resilient systems.
  • Showcase your ability to deploy, run, and monitor serverless workloads in Amazon ECS, demonstrating your practical skills in managing modern, serverless applications.
  • Master the concepts and tools of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), particularly Bitbucket Pipelines, to streamline and automate our software delivery process.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages commonly used for infrastructure and service automation, such as Go or Python, to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Bring excellent communication and collaboration skills to foster a productive and cohesive team environment, ensuring seamless coordination and project success.
