About Tech at Bloom & Wild Group 💐

We’re Europe’s largest direct-to-consumer flower and gifting business (incorporating Bloom & Wild, bloomon, and Bergamotte). Our 60+ person Tech team builds the software powering our online shops, warehouses, and delivery logistics. You can read lots more about our technology stack and our culture over on our tech blog - Code & Wild.

The Role

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll help our engineering teams ship code faster, safely, and on reliable infrastructure. You'll split your time roughly between:

    • Embedded Work: Joining domain squads to fix bottlenecks and improve their systems.

    • Central Platform Work: Building shared tools, infrastructure, and automation for all developers.

    • AI Integration: Rolling out AI tools across development, code reviews, and incident response.

    • Key Responsibilities:
      • Internal Tooling: Create feature flags, canary rollouts, and CI/CD pipelines.

      • Core Infrastructure: Manage and optimise AWS, GitHub, Datadog, and Cloudflare.

      • Automation: Eliminate repetitive manual tasks for engineering teams, utilising AI tools where you can.

      • Production Support: Guide squads on managing their own apps using metrics, logs, and SLOs.

What We're Looking For

    • AWS & Terraform: Hands-on experience (specifically ECS Fargate, RDS, Lambda, or EventBridge).

    • CI/CD & Observability: Strong understanding of deployment pipelines and system monitoring.

    • Modern Tools: Interest in using AI tools in daily software engineering.

    • Codebases: Comfortable working with application code in Ruby or Python and navigating ambiguous problems.

    • This role would be great for a Junior or new Mid, looking for the next step. Don't check every box? Please apply anyway! We hire for potential and diverse perspectives over exhaustive checklists.

Benefits & Perks

  • Flexibility: Core hours (10–4), hybrid or remote working, plus up to 45 days per year to work abroad.
  • 🌴 Time Off: 25 days holiday + birthday + flexible bank holidays (option to buy 5 extra days).
  • 🌱 Growth & Support: Health cash plan, free therapy (Open Up), equity options, learning budget, and generous product discounts.
