The team:
Every product, customer experience and transaction at Zopa Bank runs on the foundations we build. Our Cloud Infrastructure team ensures those foundations are secure, resilient, and ready to handle the demands of modern digital banking. We work closely with teams across the business to deliver scalable solutions, automate wherever we can, and maintain the reliability our customers expect from a bank they trust. The Cloud Infrastructure team is focused on how we can continuously improve these services as we grow at scale with new products launching this year and more customers joining Zopa.

The Cloud Infrastructure team is composed of 4 people at the moment: 1 Associate, 2 Mid-Levels and 1 Senior Platform Engineer.

A day in the life:
As Platform Engineer at Zopa, you'll split your time across three kinds of work that keep the platform healthy and moving forward:
- AWS: we manage the AWS accounts where the vast majority of Zopa’s applications are deployed. We are responsible for the management and cost of our infrastructure.
- Kubernetes: almost all Zopa’s applications are deployed into Kubernetes and we have multiple clusters to maintain. We have lots of additional services needed around Kubernetes to be able to offer features to our Engineers.
- Hashicorp Vault: this is the tool used to manage secrets and certificate generation.

Collaboration is at the core of our culture. No one is ever left alone and, when there are issues, everyone is always available to help. We have a strong ownership of the services that we maintain. We have a weekly meeting that we use a brainstorming sessions to discuss challenges, both technical and non-technical, that are affecting us.

It’s a fast-paced, learning-rich environment with strong collaboration at its core — balancing technical depth with a human-centred approach to enabling great software delivery.

About you:

  • Proven depth in CI/CD, deployment and container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Solid AWS experience and proficiency in at least one programming language (we use Go)
  • Comfortable designing, operating and troubleshooting production platforms at scale
  • Strong command of observability tooling (Prometheus, Splunk or similar); eager to master Honeycomb
  • Developer empathy & outstanding communication skills; thrive on coaching and cross‑team collaboration
  • Track record of data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and incident‑management best practices
  • Growth mindset; curious about GenAI and its impact on developer productivity

Nice to have experience:

  • Experience building mobile or serverless (Lambda) CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to regulated or high‑compliance domains; fintech being a bonus
  • Advanced Honeycomb or observability‑as‑code know‑how
