Job Description

Job Title: Planning & Control Manager - Submarines

Working location: Raynesway, Derby  

Grade: Level C

As a Planning and Control Manager you will use standard processes and best practice and be responsible for the total production plan. To drive on time delivery through application of rigorous planning and ERP compliance. To identify, prioritise, mitigate and resolve delivery issues impacting the customer. Functionally drive the planning processes and ensure robust load capacity planning is undertaken within the value stream. To develop a team of competent & capable planning professionals.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week. 

What you will be doing: 

  • Be the resource owner for P&C professionals in the relevant business area ensuring alignment to generic roles and development of skills in role to the required level.

  • Be a P&C ambassador, coaching cross-functional teams on the importance of P&C processes and the adherence to them.

  • Ensure the team uses RRSL planning processes to create and maintain robust & credible plans that meet customer requirement and are deployed to support delivery.

  • Proactively identify any future risk to material supply and drive risk reduction / business continuity plan actions.

  • Where performance diverges from the plan, identify and drive actions required to facilitate recovery. Ensure awareness within the value stream of delivery issues, mitigations and recovery plans.

  • Ensure appropriate scheduling and resourcing of P&C standard diary and closure of related actions arising. Support IPPR Level 2 reviews as required.

  • Oversee Commit Accept, Orderbook Reviews and Load & Capacity planning processes to ensure delivery plans are supported by realistic manufacturing performance and robust inbound supply plans.

  • Ensure the ERP system reflects current commitments and drive ERP compliance with the team, to enable robust plans through high integrity data that meet customer requirement and are deployed to support delivery.

  • Support appropriate CoP's and process councils, ensuring sharing of best practice and continuous improvement of standard processes

  • Experience of managing, building and developing a team.

  • Proven track record of managing and delivering operations/improvements, including dealing with change.

  • Broad understanding of different roles / functions / processes (e.g. Manufacturing, Purchase, NPI, ME etc).

  • Sound knowledge of production planning and control processes & principles.

  • Knowledge of and working experience with MRP systems.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance.  Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. 

Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
