We're looking for a Picture Editor to join the Horse & Hound team for a six-month fixed maternity cover to oversee the management and organisation of all the magazine's photographic content.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Art Editor, you'll manage the full photographic events calendar – booking shoots in advance for major reports, coordinating last-minute interviews, cover shots and events. In addition to this, you'll manage the accounts and payments.

You'll be the primary point of contact for our extensive network of photographers and event centres across the country.

You'll be working within a small creative team to bring the magazine’s pages to life. Offering feedback, and constructive ideas to keep the magazine aesthetic looking fresh and appealing.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve
  • Knowing your dressage from your showjumping. An in-depth understanding of the horse world
  • A creative eye for selecting accurate and impactful imagery
  • Capable of juggling a complex calendar and keeping your cool when pages change at the eleventh hour.
  • Whether you're negotiating a fee with a pro photographer, or liaising with an event centre manager, strong and professional communication skills are essential.
  • Proficient user of the Google Suite, and competent at learning new systems and processes quickly.
