The Role 

As a Performance Data Analyst Apprentice, you will support the team in producing accurate performance and risk information for a wide range of M&G funds and mandates. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will help prepare and check performance returns, assist with attribution and contribution analysis, and learn how industry standards such as GIPS are applied in practice.  

 

The Performance Team plays an important role in providing reliable, signedoff data that supports client reporting and enterprisewide decisionmaking across M&G Asset Management. You will also support work where performance analytics are used across Strategic Oversight, Management Information, Supporting Committees and Boards, Remuneration, Investment Allocations and Risk Management.  

 

As you grow in the role, you will contribute to tasks such as validating fund performance, helping explain what drives investment outcomes, and assisting with deeper analysis to understand performance trends and drivers. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will build practical skills in data handling, tools and processes, and gain a strong understanding of how performance information is produced, governed and used across the business. 

 

What will you be doing? 

As a Performance Data Analyst Apprentice you will be:  

  • Support the team with data checks and performance calculations across key systems such as Aladdin Accounting and FactSet, learning how performance data is produced and verified.  

  • Help deliver accurate and timely performance reports and expost risk information by working closely with colleagues and following established processes.  

  • Assist with the team’s Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) activities, gaining an understanding of how industry standards are applied in practice.  

  • Work with the Head of Performance Capability and Solutions to support the design and improvement of performance tools and processes used across the asset management platform.  

  • Help reconcile performance figures between custodians, performance engines and attribution systems to ensure consistency and accuracy.  

  • Respond to adhoc information requests from Fund Managers, Client Directors, Investment Specialists, Investment Risk, Sales & Marketing and Clients, with support from experienced team members.  

  • Work alongside Operational teams and IT to help ensure highquality data flows into performance and attribution systems.  

  • Contribute to small projects aimed at improving accuracy, efficiency and ways of working within the team.  

  • Support the maintenance of good working relationships with internal teams to help ensure performance outputs meet business needs.  

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including Risk and control teams, to help uphold a strong control environment.  

  • Stay curious about industry developments, regulatory themes and business trends, and use learning opportunities to grow your understanding. 

 

What will I need to be successful in this role? 

  • A high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.  

  • An analytical mindset with solid problemsolving skills.  

  • Strong capability in data manipulation, with proficiency in Excel and familiarity with analytics tools such as Power BI or Tableau; knowledge of SQL or Python is an advantage.  

  • Confident written and verbal communication skills.  

  • The ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  

  • Confidence in managing processes and coordinating activities across different teams.  

  • A strong focus on customer service and stakeholder needs.  

  • An organised, proactive and structured approach to work.  

  • The ability to balance daytoday tasks alongside completing an apprenticeship qualification.  

  • A solid understanding of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Outlook.  

  • A genuine interest in using technologyled solutions to improve access to performance data and support the function’s development.  

  • A logical, analytical and curious approach, supported by the drive to learn and grow. 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2026 

  • You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme   

  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK   

  • Living in England 

  • Minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE English and Mathematics 

  • Minimum of Grade C in Three A-Levels or equivalent such as BTEC Nationals   

 

Training Provided 

As a Performance Data Analyst Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Data Analyst Level 4 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses  

 

Future Prospects 

This is a fixed term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.  

  

Salary 

£26,900 per annum plus benefits
