The Role

The Manager, People Business Partner will support Conde Nast’s Enabling Functions by helping deliver people initiatives, programmes, and processes that drive business results and strengthen our culture. Working closely with the SVP, Enabling Functions and partnering with the broader People Business Partner team, this role will collaborate with a range of global internal client groups across our Enabling Functions.  This is a hands-on support role for someone proactive, solutions-oriented, and comfortable navigating a dynamic environment. You will help problem-solve day-to-day challenges and provide thoughtful partnership to stakeholders. As the needs of our team and clients continue to evolve, you will play an important part in adapting how we work and deliver impact across the business.

What will you be doing?

  • Assist People Partners with the structured implementation of people programs across Enabling Functions and the timely resolution of a wide range of employee relations matters

  • Partner with HR Centres of Excellence on end-to end delivery and coordination of key annual people programmes and initiatives, ensuring clear timelines and accountability to ensure successful delivery

  • Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of talent, performance, development and reward processes, ensuring timelines are met, data is accurate, and stakeholders are appropriately supported

  • Act as the primary People lead in the design and implementation of key company-wide and functional people initiatives (e.g., job architecture, engagement programmes), partnering with senior stakeholders to ensure effective delivery, adoption and sustained organisational impact.

  • Partner with the SVP and PBP’s in implementing operating model and organisational design initiatives, including reporting and planning

  • Own the preparation and analysis of people data to produce reports on a regular or ad hoc basis for people-related initiatives to analyse trends and highlight improvement opportunities to business stakeholders and the People team

  • Maintain accurate global workforce data and reporting for each division, partnering with stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, including headcount/workforce planning reports and org charts.  Use data records to support key projects such as turnover, job architecture, performance reviews, engagement surveys, etc.

  • Own full-cycle employee onboarding and offboarding for the US - assist employees with all new hire and departure logistics, conduct new hire check-ins and exit interviews, partner with line managers to ensure seamless transitions, and report key metrics and qualitative themes

  • Process data changes such as promotions, terminations, and job requisitions through Workday

  • Provide support for Enabling Functions on a range of ER issues, including investigations, disciplinary matters and grievances, as well as coaching and supporting line managers to ensure cases are addressed in a timely and professional manner, attending meetings and taking notes where appropriate 

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions or issues across the divisions, using sound judgment in responding to questions accurately, collaborating with HR COE’s on matters such as benefits or leaves of absence, and escalating issues as needed to senior people partners

  • Advocate and offer guidance and coaching to managers concerning work-related issues, and work to resolve issues proactively and positively

  • Work collaboratively and effectively across the organisational matrix, especially with other people and business functions, including Talent Acquisition, Labour Relations, HR Operations, Legal, Finance, and Local Market HR teams

About You:

  • Proven experience in an HR generalist role, ideally within a matrixed or global organisation 

  • Strong knowledge of employee lifecycle management and HR operations 

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting organisational design and workforce planning initiatives to deliver 

  • Data analytical skills, including experience managing high volume people data, producing dashboard and translating insights into actionable recommendations 

  • Solid understanding of UK employment law, with the ability to apply practical judgement in employee relations matters. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter, proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented

  • Process and detail oriented, including strong organisation, time management, and prioritisation skills - ability to multitask and work well under time constraints in a fast-paced environment

  • Highly collaborative and comfortable navigating inputs from multiple stakeholders across a globally matrixed organisation

  • High levels of discretion, integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential matters

  • Previous experience in the media/entertainment industry and/or at a global organisation is a plus

  • Advanced proficiency in HR systems ( ideally Workday) and Google Workspace
