We are seeking a technically strong Paraplanner to join our Wealth Management team at any one of our offices in the South West. This is a specialist role focused on analysis, calculation and structured financial planning. You will work closely with Financial Planners to produce high-quality, well-reasoned advice that can be delivered to clients in a clear and accessible format.

Your primary responsibility will be to analyse client information, model outcomes, research appropriate solutions and construct robust financial plans. You will create the financial strategies and suitability reports that underpin client recommendations, ensuring they are technically sound, compliant and aligned to client objectives. These plans will then be delivered in client meetings by our Financial Planners.

This role is less administration-heavy than many paraplanning positions. It is designed for someone who enjoys the technical depth of financial planning - scenario modelling, tax efficiency, product research and structured report writing - and who takes pride in producing work that stands up to scrutiny.

At Old Mill, we take a holistic view of financial planning. We consider all aspects of our clients’ lives, businesses and long-term goals, often working alongside our tax and accountancy colleagues to deliver integrated advice. You will therefore need to think broadly, connecting pensions, investments, protection and estate planning within a wider financial strategy.

If you are looking for a technically focused role within a forward-thinking firm that embraces change and professional growth, we would welcome your application.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in a paraplanning or technical financial planning role
  • Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK pensions, investments, protection and tax planning
  • Experience producing suitability reports and compliant recommendation documentation
  • Proven ability to analyse complex financial information and translate it into structured, client-friendly reports
  • Experience using financial planning and cashflow modelling software
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to regulatory accuracy
  • Ability to manage workload independently while collaborating effectively within a team
  • Excellent written communication skills

At Old Mill, respect, trust and collaboration sit at the heart of how we work. With over 350 colleagues, we combine the feel of a local firm with the capability and ambition of a larger organisation.

As part of the wider Kinbrook Group, we are able to offer the strength and opportunity of a growing group while maintaining the culture and client focus that define Old Mill. You will benefit from being part of a broader professional network, with opportunities to collaborate across teams and share expertise. You will be part of a supportive, technically strong team that genuinely cares about its clients and about each other. We invest in our people, encourage continuous development and support flexible working. This is a place where you can build a long-term, fulfilling career.

Benefits

We offer a benefits package designed to support your personal and professional growth:

  • A minimum of 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase up to 5 additional days.
  • An extra day off to celebrate your birthday.
  • Hybrid working model with three days in the office.
  • Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential support for your mental, physical and financial wellbeing.
  • Full funding for professional qualifications and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Access to exclusive employee discounts.
  • Competitive pension scheme.
