We are looking for a Corporate Paralegal to join our growing Asset Management department on a 12 month fixed term contract, based in our London office. The ideal candidate will have previous corporate experience within a City law firm.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 Processing amendments to fund agreements/contracts;

  • Drafting fund related documents under supervision;
  • Reviewing subscription agreements for fund investments;
  • Preparing closing bibles;
  • Assisting with the calculation of investment amounts in Excel;
  • Liaising with Attorneys and Paralegals in the New York Asset Management Group;
  • Liaising with foreign counsel;
  • Liaising with clients directly;
  • Managing the daily flow of files and documents from clients;
  • Proofreading documents;
  • Requesting and reviewing searches for legal opinions;
  • Responding quickly and accurately to requests from clients;
  • Researching law sources; and
  • Company and market research.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:                                             

Education:

  • Three A-levels at grades “AAB” or above, or equivalent;
  • University degree at grade 2:1 or above, or equivalent; and
  • Graduate Diploma in Law (or other relevant English law qualification/experience), if original degree is not in a legal discipline.

Skills and abilities:        

  • Strong IT skills in Word, Excel, PDF-handling software, email and use of online resources, as well as a willingness to learn and become proficient using unfamiliar software applications;
  • Willingness to do overtime at short notice and to work at weekends;
  • Enthusiasm for tackling new and unfamiliar tasks or areas of law;
  • Ability to work well without close supervision;
  • Strong mathematical skills due to regular work with numbers in Excel;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to work well with others and assist co-workers;
  • Willingness to tackle administrative tasks (e.g. printing, maintaining case files, etc.) as well as more complex legal work;
  • Ability to identify problems, gather information, develop and assess alternative courses of action and propose solutions to supervising Attorneys;
  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to use initiative and also to know when to ask for guidance;
  • Remains calm under pressure;
  • Produces thorough but clear and concise written work;
  • Perceptive, with an enthusiasm for understanding the wider context for work and identifying new issues and opportunities; and
  • Professional in both appearance and conduct.
