We are seeking a highly motivated paralegal to join the Commercial Legal team, responsible for the legal work associated with supporting Formula 1’s revenue generating agreements with broadcasters, distributors of F1 TV, Global Partners & Official Sponsors and licensees (including experiential and gaming partners) as well as key service providers and advising the wider business in relation to brand protection, advertising standards and data protection compliance.

You will join a team of nine lawyers and two other paralegals, overseen by a Chief Counsel, and your role will involve supporting the work of the team’s lawyers and, with appropriate training and supervision, managing your own workstreams.

What you can expect to work on

As a Paralegal in the Commercial Legal team, you will support on the following workstreams:

  • assisting with drafting and negotiating media rights agreements, in particular those relating to Formula 1’s various support series, F2 & F3, Porsche Supercup and the recently launched F1 Academy, as well as ancillary content licences;
  • assisting with drafting letters of variation to existing agreements in place with F1 broadcasters, partners and licensees;
  • supporting the Procurement team in relation to agreements for the provision of goods and services, including reviewing and negotiating F1’s and supplier standard terms and conditions as well as data processing addendums;
  • supporting relevant internal stakeholders in completing Data Protection Impact Assessments;
  • drafting and negotiating non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), based on both F1’s and counter-parties standard terms, and maintaining records of executed NDAs;
  • assisting with ad hoc agreements and consumer-facing terms and conditions, supporting the Marketing, Advertising Sales and Digital teams;
  • responding to day-to-day enquiries from internal clients and external counterparties;
  • supporting commercial teams in their management of the above contracts (including acting as the Legal team point of contact where relevant);
  • preparing know-how/research notes on relevant legal/contractual issues; and
  • updating template documents and “playbooks” that aim to make workstreams more efficient.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following experience:

  • working as a paralegal within a leading City or national law firm or as part of an in-house legal team for at least 1 year;
  • experience of working with commercial contracts and some experience in legal drafting; and
  • sound knowledge of English law and legal system.

  • have a Law Degree, or an Undergraduate Degree and the GDL, or an equivalent.
  • are enthusiastic, have a can-do attitude and a willingness to expand their skillset;
  • are agile, can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and deliver results under pressure to a deadline;
  • have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders;
  • pride themselves on having a high degree of attention to detail;
  • are team players and understand of the importance of building relationships with internal clients, peers and external partners;
  • with appropriate training and supervision, take responsibility for own workstreams and are solution-orientated problem solvers; and
  • are curious about the business of sport and Formula 1.
