As a PACS Administrator, you will provide and maintain efficient administrative and PACS services for the Radiology department, ensuring that a high-quality service is delivered to patients, staff and Consultant Users. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team - showing flexibility of shared tasks to ensure that we provide the best quality service in a pleasant environment for both staff and patients. This role includes the development and maintenance of PACS operational policies and procedures, system audit, handling of complaints and ensuring a close liaison with clinical users and with third part suppliers.
You’ll help us make health happen by:
- To be the first line response to all reported PACS hardware and software equipment faults
- To be competent to resolve PACS technical issues, monitoring system performance and taking proactive action as necessary to minimise system downtime.
- To work with fellow PACS colleagues to maintain an effective mechanism for the delivery of hospital wide PACS support, assisting the staff and clinicians in the daily operation.
- To liaise with Clinical staff, I.T., PACS Manager and G.M. within and outside Radiology, with regard to the management of the PACS service issues, service developments and unplanned down time
- To support with the preparation of imaging for all MDT meetings. To be present and help to set up images during MDT meetings if required.
- To retrieve previous images and reports in order to ensure that all relevant information is correctly stored and available for the Radiographers and Radiologists.
- To maintain a high standard of “housekeeping” for imaging records. Monitoring the PACS system, performing daily health checks and housekeeping to ensure optimum efficiency.

- To oversee and be responsible for the digitisation/importing of the patient’s foreign images into the PACS system, including IEP (image exchange Portal).
- To be available (via free set) on site to resolve PACS issues within the department and the Hospital.
- To ensure that all imaging and reports (USBs and CD’s) are delivered within a timely fashion and in accordance with the set criteria of the Department.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
- Experience within Healthcare
- Experience within Radiology
- Experience with PACS (Desirable)
- Experience with RIS (Desirable)
- IT literate
- Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Can work well under pressure
- Excellent team player
