Operational Risk Specialist
Adyen is looking for an Operational Risk Specialist in our Amsterdam office to join our second line Operational Risk team, which is part of the global Enterprise Risk team. We are looking for someone with foundational Operational Risk Management (ORM) knowledge, gained from experience at big four consulting, a large financial institution or tech company, or another type of (global) corporation. Someone who’s keen to apply and further develop their expertise within a dynamic, fast-paced technology environment. This role is for you if you're interested in supporting and improving the foundation of our framework, spanning a global operational risk taxonomy.
You have a solid grasp of Operational Risk, its common risk types, and its value within a business. You are looking for an opportunity to learn quickly, take on increasing responsibility, and develop a "good" intuition for risk management. Adyen’s flat structure means you will be closely involved in supporting, learning from, and maintaining a wide range of risk management activities.
What you’ll do:
- Focus on Operational Risk to help manage risks in an efficient and scalable manner.
- Support the enhancement and rollout of our global Framework while developing into a subject matter expert.
- Contribute to core ORM activities, such as tracking risk appetite, logging operational loss events, and assisting with scenario analysis and issue management.
- Collaborate with first-line stakeholders to help integrate risk considerations into new projects, and support the improvement of processes and policies.
- Work alongside the Internal Control team and other second-line functions (e.g., Regulatory, Compliance) to help ensure appropriate risk responses.
- Take a supporting and advisory role in different types of risk assessments across the organization.
- Assist in preparing clear Operational Risk reports for Management and Risk Committees to provide an accurate view of the landscape.
- Develop an awareness of evolving technological and regulatory developments to help keep our ORM approach future-proof.
Who you are:
- 2–4 years of relevant professional experience in Operational Risk Management at large financial institution, large tech company or other (global) corporation, in a second-line capacity (internal or consulting).
- Hold a foundational understanding of the components of a robust ORM framework and are keen to learn how to identify improvement areas.
- Possess a proactive, energetic mindset and are a lifelong learner who values team investment in your growth.
- A hands-on mentality and are ready to engage with challenges as part of a collaborative team.
- Have experience supporting projects and ensuring tasks stay on track to deliver measurable outcomes.
- Leverage strong communication skills to build relationships and support the adoption of best practices across different teams.
- Have an interest in or some experience with Data Risk Management, which is considered a plus as you grow in this role.
