Hybrid – Dorking or Basingstoke 2 days a week

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operational Risk Manager to lead the continual development and implementation of operational risk management within Unum. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert advice and communicate risk policies and processes across the organisation, ensuring a robust approach to managing operational and non-financial risks. You will play a hands-on role in developing risk processes, ensuring controls are operating effectively, and delivering research and analytical support to strengthen the business’s risk management framework.

This position also involves mentoring and supporting other members of the Risk team, fostering their development through guidance and role modelling. You will take the lead in communicating and embedding risk policies, building strong partnerships across the business to enhance risk awareness, and delivering training to empower staff. 

As a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present confidently to management, you will thrive in a collaborative environment. Financial services industry experience is essential, and the ideal candidate will have a proven ability to build relationships.
