The Operational Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for the delivery and budget ownership of customer technical fit-out and internal operational projects across Pure DC’s global data centre portfolio. The role ensures all projects are planned and executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical and quality standards.

 

Acting as the link between construction, operations, and customers, the Delivery Manager provides end-to-end ownership, from defining scope and managing contractors to controlling budgets, mitigating risks, and maintaining clear stakeholder communication. The position is primarily home-based, with on-site and head office attendance as required to ensure effective collaboration and project delivery.


Customer Technical Fit-out

The Operations Infrastructure Delivery Manager is responsible for the technical fit-out of customer spaces upon completion of phased builds within any datacentre in the Pure DC portfolio. This includes post-construction customer requests.

Examples include:

  • Whitespace Fit-out
  • Office fit-out
  • Structured cabling
  • Physical Security
  • Customer Operational Projects
  • Any projects or requests the customer may have where Pure DC can support them by means of managing their request, helping define scope, obtaining quotes, obtaining/issuing purchase orders, contractor management, project closure.

Pure DC Operational Projects

The Operations Infrastructure Delivery Manager is responsible for supporting the Site Engineering Team with ‘in-house’ projects which will include:

  • Acting as a point of contact for advice/guidance to help the team deliver each project in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Taking ownership of a project if the complexity is better suited to a Project Manager's role.

Examples include:

  • Re-design of office spaces, storage spaces
  • End-of-life-cycle replacements
  • Health and Safety initiative building upgrades
Responsibilities

The Operations Infrastructure Delivery Manager must carry out the following tasks diligently whilst following industry guidelines and best practice techniques: 

  • Develop Business Cases and Project Scopes
  • Take ownership of Project Plans, Programs, Schedules, Risk Registers and Budget Forecasts
  • Ensure compliance of all stakeholders with Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • Ensure Pure DC Company Standards are upheld by all internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Finance to manage supplier contracts, cost tracking and approvals.
  • Start and maintain all communications related to customer project activities by providing project updates as required to ensure the customer remains informed of progress
  • Provide Technical advice to Data-centre Management in collaboration with the Global Technical Team
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring budgets are sought and agreed by the appropriate budget holder before any work instructions are carried out for any project.
  • Assist the customer/project requester in creating a viable scope from which to obtain quotes from.
  • Lead negotiations with contractors ensuring all aspects of the project are covered and no required elements are excluded from scope.
  • Take responsibility for Ensuring all levels of design are captured in scope including all levels of drawings.
  • Own the Review process for all submissions from both customers and contractors to ensure alignment across scopes and expectations.
  • Develop and implement a process to ensure transparency and flow of information regarding updates from contractors and ensure these are provided to datacentre management and customer management.
  • Ensure all elements of projects are witnessed and signed off by the appropriate parties and documented accordingly.
  • Developing and maintaining good collaborative relationships with contractors.
  • Ensure there is clear communication between all main/sub-contractors.

  • Customer service management
  • Pure DC senior management
  • Pure DC datacentre management
  • Pure DC security management
  • Pure DC construction team
  • Pure DC Finance and Procurement
  • Contractors
Qualifications

Required Skills, qualifications and experience

  • Qualified in an Electrical or Mechanical capacity within the Data Centre Industry, ideally degree level.
  • Experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving mechanical and electrical systems.
  • 5yrs experience working within an operational datacentre environment.
  • Experience working as a Project Manager within a technical or construction environment.
  • Experience directly related to the design or construction and operation of data centres/critical infrastructure or technically complex plants.
  • General contractor and vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders) associated with construction and project execution.
  • Understanding data centre system-level architecture, specifying/document performance and equipment requirements, creating/communicating conceptual designs, and creating/ maintaining project documentation.
  • HSE management. CDM area management.
  • Value engineering: Proven ability to reduce costs through creative solutions with no impact on quality and reliability (new designs, technology, or construction methods).
  • Experience in controls and commissioning complex projects.

Desirable Skills, qualifications and experience

  • CNET Data Centre Professional qualifications in Project Management and Data Centre Design.
  • Qualified at Prince2 Practitioner or PMP level.
  • Experience of delivering projects within live datacentre or critical environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science or 4+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
  • NEBOSH qualification in Health and Safety Management.
  • Experience of anticipating and planning/delivering life-cycle replacement projects.
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
  • Driving license.
