About this role in the team:
The role will be reporting to our VP of Operations, Sarah Down.
We’re seeking a hybrid thinker—equal parts operations strategist, automation specialist, and data analyst—to lead operational excellence and intelligent automation across our payments, treasury and reconciliation operations. You’ll own initiatives that reduce friction, scale systems without adding headcount, and create a culture of efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
The Role
We’re looking for an Operational Excellence & Automation Manager drive automation, scalability, and efficiency across our Treasury & Payment Operations teams. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology and operations, automating workflows and reducing dependency on Engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Automation & Workflow Engineering:
- Design and implement automated workflows to streamline payment, treasury reconciliation operations using tools like n8n, Cursor, or internal workflow engines.
- Write scripts and lightweight backend logic to automate repetitive manual tasks and reduce operational errors.
- Work with engineering to optimise backend system integrations but aim to decrease ongoing reliance on technical resources.
- Analyse end-to-end operational processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and cost drivers.
- Design and implement scalable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), KPI frameworks, and process maps.
- Lead post-mortems and root cause analysis for operational issues, ensuring corrective actions are tracked and executed.
- Champion lean and agile methodologies across operations.
- Build and maintain dashboards that provide real-time visibility into key metrics like SLA compliance, processing speed, error rates, and volumes.
- Use SQL and analytics tools to investigate trends, identify inefficiencies, and forecast operational needs.
Translate data insights into actionable process improvements and business cases.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Customer Success teams to align on operational requirements, system enhancements, and automation opportunities.
- Be a go-to stakeholder for operational data requests and drive consensus on how data is captured and used.
- Support change management initiatives to ensure adoption of new tools, processes, and workflows.
What You Bring
- 2–4 years of experience in operations, automation, or data analytics roles, preferably in fintech, payments, or high-growth tech.
- Strong technical skills in workflow automation tools (n8n preferred), scripting, and REST APIs.
- Strong SQL and dashboarding/reporting skills; experience with tools like QuickSight.
- Experience working with payment and treasury systems (e.g., Fiat, Crypto, PSPs, bank integrations).
- Proven ability to deliver cross-functional projects that scale operations and reduce cost or manual effort.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills for presenting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with operational metrics such as SLA adherence, error rates etc.
