Operational Engineer – Cloud Services
MS Amlin is embarking on a significant technology modernisation. This will result in an improved service and IT capability that will provide the foundation for delivery of MS Amlin’s aspirational IT objectives and desired target state.
MS Amlin are migrating from On Prem to Azure for the vast majority of services
Efficient management of our Azure based infrastructure is a critical component of the modernisation programme. This role will be instrumental in enhancing ABS’ existing cloud infrastructure services to provide greater agility and cost effectiveness.
About The Job
What you’ll spend your time doing:
- Managing costs across the Azure portfolio, delivering reliable cost reporting and performance telemetry and optimising the cloud environments
- Developing FinOps processes to ensure effective cost management
- Governance of the cost management, financial reporting and risk management of workloads on Azure platform and act as point of contact for any issues, incidents or problems
- Supporting ITIL processes – incident, change management and problem management
- Driving the adherence to standards and operating procedures to ensure quality, productivity and controls compliance
- Working with the wider team and automation tooling to ensure enforcement of cost management
- Support the Azure VM lifecycle management in line with MS Amlin Cloud Management process
- Engaging and build relationships with external 3rd party support partners as needed for system maintenance/support/troubleshooting
What you’ll need:
For this particular role there are some important qualifications and experience we need you to have. These include:
- Demonstrable troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Experience with Entra ID is essential and you’ll have previously supported and developed Azure and/or AWS
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Certified certifications
- Experience with infrastructure as code (ARM\Bicep\Terraform)
- Experience with scripting and command line languages (JSON\Python\Powershell)
- 5-10 Years of experience in system administration, infrastructure development or related areas
- Self-confidence to navigate complex IT operating environments
- Experience of managing outsourced IT services providers
- Experience of managing operational change to infrastructure through a route to live release process
- Ability to build and maintain strong, cohesive working relationships with senior stakeholders
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, multi-tasking skills and a ‘can do attitude’
- Excellent communicator at all levels
- Experience in dealing with conflicting priorities and opinions
