The Network Engineer will deploy, configure, and support network infrastructure while diagnosing and troubleshooting networking incidents and supporting low-latency trading systems.
The Xantium Group seeks a Network Engineer to join a successful and growing team. Working closely with our Head of Network Engineering, this person will assist in deploying, configuring and supporting network infrastructure. They will also diagnose and troubleshoot networking incidents and support low-latency trading and research systems.
The Network Engineer will be based in London and collaborate with quantitative researchers and developers in both the U.S. and U.K. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities and a strong work ethic.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Foundational understanding of networking (BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP stack, L2/L3 routing and switching)
- Hands on experience with switching and routing platforms (Cisco, Arista, Juniper etc.)
- Grasp of basic security concepts (ACLs, firewalls, segmentation)
- Familiarity with automation or scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform or Chef/Puppet)
- Experience with Linux based systems and Linux network stack
- Availability for on-call and weekend work
Nice-to-Haves:
- Expertise working in multi data center or low latency environments
- Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Experience with NetOps tooling (Git, CI/CD, Terraform, monitoring systems)
