The team:

The mortgage team at Rothesay is responsible for deployment into mortgage assets in both whole loan and structured finance mortgage opportunities. The team actively manages our programmatic partnerships and the overall book risk while maintaining the ability to react swiftly to new market opportunities. All members of the team are empowered to drive their own careers and seek out additional responsibilities.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 The role is responsible for the administration of Rothesay’s Dutch residential mortgage investments and maintenance of originator and servicer relationships.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ongoing risk monitoring and measurement for the existing portfolio
  • Lifecycle management of the existing portfolio
  • Key contact point for both internal and external counterparts
  • Pricing and underwriting of new business opportunities


The successful candidate will be carrying out the below tasks:

  • Comparison of asset rates to internal required hurdle returns
  • Trade bookings
  • Product design and oversight (e.g. reviewing underwriting criteria and assessing the risk impact)
  • Pipeline management
  • Co-ordination with internal operations (e.g. Risk, Finance, Operations, and developers)
  • Risk management of mortgage portfolio (e.g. prepayment risk, default risk and climate risk)
  • Pricing / underwriting of prospective portfolio transactions which can include cashflow modelling or running existing cashflow models
  • Management reporting
  • Process improvement (identification, design and implementation with internal developers)
  • Modelling of other related opportunities in other jurisdictions / markets


Skills and experience required:

 

  • Fluent Dutch and English speaker
  • 3+ years’ experience in a relevant role
  • Previous role ideally in day-to-day management of residential mortgage assets within a Dutch bank, insurance company or non-bank origination platform
  • However, a trade support or risk management role in a rates or credit trading business can be considered
  • Proven experience of financial analysis and execution of core risk management functions
  • Comfortable with identifying risks and issues, ask challenging questions and manage successful resolution, whilst also building effective long-term relationships
  • Highly motivated self-starter: ability to initiate and manage work with sense of urgency
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay focused on risk management
  • Strong analytical and presentational skills
  • Ability to deliver above and beyond core functions
  • Completion of the CISI Regulations, Securities and Derivatives Exams desirable, but not mandatory. We can support the study towards achieving this if not already completed.
