Job Description

We are looking for a highly strategic and results oriented individual to join the Monetisation (Revenue) team at Trainline as a Strategy Manager. This role will support two main work streams, identifying, evaluating, and scaling new products and revenue opportunities at Trainline and the optimisation of consumer fees & pricing

You will work in close partnership with the country leadership teams, finance, product & tech, and other key stakeholders to identify opportunities and manage the successful delivery of these.

The ideal candidate will have a strategy and analytical background with a proven track record of working cross-functionally to deliver results in fast-paced/ambiguous environments.

What you will do

  • Support on strategy definition for new revenue opportunities. This includes analysing emerging trends in the market, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to pinpoint opportunities for new monetisable offerings or business models.

  • Support the optimisation of consumer fees at Trainline both in terms of revenue optimisation to hit financial objectives but also identifying improvements to customer understanding and perception of our fees.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to inform and prioritize the roadmap for monetisation proposition development, considering both short and longer-term opportunities.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and risks.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a smart, data-driven, and commercially minded individual who is ready to take an exciting next step in shaping the evolution of monetisation at Trainline. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact within a dynamic and innovative business.

  • 4+ years of commercial strategy experience: You will bring a strong background in commercial strategy, ideally with experience in marketplace businesses or mobile app environments. Experience within the travel industry is a distinct advantage but not a requirement.

  • Track record in diverse environments: Ideally, you have experience working in complex matrix organizations, where cross-functional collaboration is key, as well as in fast-paced, high-growth environments where agility and innovation are critical.

  • Leadership and stakeholder influence: You have some leadership experience and demonstrate a proven ability to build trust, influence decision-making, and drive alignment across a variety of stakeholders at all levels of an organization.

  • Outstanding relationship-building skills: You excel at fostering strong, collaborative relationships both internally with cross-functional teams and externally with partners. Your ability to communicate effectively ensures seamless cooperation across the board.

  • A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset: You thrive in ambiguity, tackling challenges head-on and finding innovative solutions to drive results. You’re resourceful, resilient, and outcome-focused, with a drive to deliver tangible impact.
