In the Global Bank tribe, we are building the infrastructure and core services needed to provide our merchants with a digital bank account that allows them to do mobile banking simply. Our goal: be the top banking partner for small merchants globally by offering a tailored, high quality and affordable banking experience easily managed from our SuperApp.

We are looking for a hands-on Mobile Engineering Manager (Android) to guide a chapter of Android engineers, shaping the future of mobile banking in the SumUp Super App. You’ll drive the technical vision, deliver impactful features, and cultivate a collaborative, growth-oriented environment to help engineers achieve their full potential. 

What you will do:

  • Guide and mentor a chapter of talented Android engineers, helping them grow in their careers while delivering impactful projects.
  • Oversee the development of SumUp's Android Bank application, ensuring scalability, security, and an exceptional user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and execute the product roadmap.
  • Guide the technical direction and best practices for Android development while improving processes and championing automation and code quality.
  • Take a hands-on approach when needed, balancing leadership responsibilities with technical problem-solving.
  • Promote a culture of innovation by empowering your team to experiment and learn from one another while staying informed about industry trends to keep SumUp at the forefront of mobile payments.

You will be great for this role if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience in engineering leadership, such as serving as an Engineering Manager or in a similar role within an Android/Mobile development team.
  • Proven experience in native app development using Kotlin, and a demonstrated ability to work on complex mobile applications.
  • An inclusive leadership approach that emphasizes collaboration, open communication, and a commitment to both personal and professional development.
  • Experience advocating for best practices in testing and driving automation initiatives to ensure high-quality, efficient processes.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A passion for staying current with the latest advancements in Android development and a dedication to continuous learning.
