This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Midweight Brand Designer to join the Brand Design team, reporting to the Senior Manager. You’ll be a key contributor within the creative engine room of Nationwide, working hands-on to deliver high-quality, on-brand design across a wide range of touchpoints.

You’ll play an important role in bringing the Nationwide brand to life through exceptional visual design, supporting campaigns, social content, installations, and branding projects. Notably, you will have a particular focus on supporting our integration workstreams. Working closely with fellow designers, marketers, and internal stakeholders, you’ll help translate briefs into impactful, well-crafted creations that align with our brand guidelines and deliver against business objectives.

This role is ideal for a designer who loves execution, takes pride in craft, and enjoys collaborating as part of a high-performing creative team. You may have experience in an in-house brand team or had an agency career and are ready to make the move in-house.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
This is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract.

At Nationwide, we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK-wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job, you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

You will deliver high-quality visual design across multiple channels and formats, including campaign assets, social content, digital, web, video, internal communications, retail, and events. You’ll be creating engaging, well-crafted design solutions that respond to briefs and adhere to Nationwide brand guidelines.

In doing so, you will support the development and evolution of brand assets and templates, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints. Additionally, you’ll be supporting integration workstreams across customer and colleague workstreams, working closely with the strategy team to ensure the Nationwide brand is represented consistently across channels.

You will work collaboratively with designers, copywriters, marketers, and agencies to develop concepts and produce final creative outputs. You’ll take briefs from concept through to delivery, managing your own workload and timelines effectively and be comfortable with managing stakeholders.

Presenting and articulating your design solutions clearly to internal stakeholders, demonstrating how you’ve interpreted and delivered against the brief, will be a key responsibility, as will embedding digital-first thinking into your work, including social-native formats, animation, and motion where appropriate.

You will stay curious and inspired, bringing fresh ideas and creative thinking to the team while maintaining strong brand alignment.

  • Is highly proficient across the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects)

  • Has experience designing for a range of channels and formats. Experience with digital channels, particularly in performance marketing. You will also be expected to work across Print assets, so experience in this is vital

  • Can confidently execute creative concepts while working within established brand guidelines.

  • Is an excellent collaborator, comfortable working within a team and taking direction as well as contributing ideas

  • Communicates clearly and professionally with stakeholders at all levels

  • Has strong time management and organisational skills, able to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Is proactive, curious, and always looking to improve their craft

  • A keen interest in creative application of AI to improve efficiencies and design outputs

  • Has an appreciation of the Nationwide brand and a desire to help strengthen it through great design

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
