Join us as a Media Relations Manager

  • We're offering the role for a period of nine months
What you'll do

As a Media Relations Manager, you’ll be providing excellent media advice and support to key stakeholders across the NatWest Group. Along with this, you’ll develop a network of journalists to make sure the bank’s strategy is accurately communicated, while working with a range of colleagues to ensure our communications are consistent and engaging. Within the role you’ll be focussing primarily on the bank’s Commercial & Institutional franchise, with opportunity to also work with Retail and Private Banking & Wealth Management.

Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Securing positive media coverage for the bank by defining, planning and executing proactive media plans are in place, while working closely with the wider Corporate Affairs teams to deliver against objectives and wider plans
  • Managing media issues to minimise any negative media coverage for the bank
  • Preparing press releases, and media materials which support our narrative and core messages
  • Working with the Group Media Relations, regional, campaigns and social media teams to deliver effective and impactful media coverage that tell our customers' stories
The skills you'll need

We’re looking for a confident communicator who can influence at a senior level. With experience in a similar role, you’ll be able to demonstrate how you’ve gained press coverage through a range of media tactic. Along with your experience of working with national and trade journalists, you’ll also have excellent contacts with banking and business journalists from a range of media outlets.

Additionally, you’ll need:

  • Experience of dealing with the media and PR, from origination of PR campaigns through to delivery
  • Knowledge of social media and digital engagement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong grasp of political and economic issues
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure to meet deadlines
