Supports media planners in implementing on-air promotional campaigns across linear channels and VOD. Responsibilities include preparing and handing over schedules, maintaining continuity announcements and promotional data, creating graphics placeholders, scheduling promos, managing menu stills, monitoring campaigns, supporting audience research, and ensuring OFCOM compliance. The role also requires cross-functional collaboration with marketing, programming, creative, communications, and continuity teams.
We are looking for a Media Planning Assistant to join our team on a FTC until next July. You will help implement on air plans to ensure we retain audiences and grow both our linear channels & VOD platform. The Media Planning Assistant reports to the Media Planning Manager and is responsible for overseeing the effective and accurate implementation of on-air campaigns.
The Media Planning team are responsible for managing the on-air promotional inventory across and all associated activity the network, including continuity & navigation activity and promo scheduling across the portfolio. The team’s purpose is to help recruit, retain and navigate viewers around UKTV’s brands in order to maximise viewing and drive network performance; both linear & on-demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Media Planners across the scripted and unscripted teams
- Responsible for handing over schedules to deadlines, ensuring the schedule is complete and OFCOM compliant across all elements of on-air promotion and continuity
- Implement the media planners’ continuity plans within the scheduling systems i.e. setting up graphic and voiceover placeholders and generating accurate on-screen graphics
- If required, take responsibility for producing weekly continuity and navigation plans ensuring optimal use of each channel’s continuity allocation. Ensure plans are in line with campaigns, business focused, on brand, editorially sound and compliant with OFCOM guidelines
- Prepare schedules for handovers adding and amending on-air elements ready for final checks, and ensure that any missing information is chased up
- Assist the Media Planner in the administration of the designated channel’s on-air promotional campaigns as required
- Support the Media Planner in carrying out audience research and analysis which will aid the planning and evaluation of both promos and continuity
- Manage the menu stills required for the channel as defined by the Media Planner and agreed by the Continuity Manager. Maintain the stills makelist, on-air data and workflow, being a key contact for stills delivery and liaising across the team to provide delivery updates
- Maintain continuity announcements in the scheduling database
- Schedule opted promos in accordance with platform requirements
- Assist the Network Media Planner in setting up campaigns within Optimiser and monitoring of campaigns versus plan
- Harness team spirit across UKTV and collaborate with colleagues across the business to deliver successful projects and campaigns
- Establish a strong relationship within the Media Planning team, Marketing, Social, Programming, Creative, Comms and Continuity announcers
- Deputise for media planners when required
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A genuine passion for TV and desire to learn
- Knowledge of What’sOn or other industry standard scheduling systems would be a bonus
- Previous broadcast experience would be a bonus
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and numeracy
- Highly motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- High degree of computer literacy and knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
