The Master Control Supervisor oversees on-air broadcast quality, manages operational staff, coordinates programming assignments, and resolves scheduling conflicts, ensuring smooth delivery during live programming.
This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
The Master Control Supervisor is responsible for the quality of on-air broadcast during live and non-live programming. Manages the operational staff directly responsible for all on-air activities and functions including multi-channel distribution which includes linear channels, digital channels and on-demand clips.
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Ensure accurate and error-free integration of live programming and live cut-ins by working closely with in-house and remote production staff.
Coordinate execute program assignments.
Detect and resolve program schedule conflicts.
Implements contingency plans for delays in live action, over runs, overlaps in events.
Maintain all required logs and feed information.
Responsible for supervising, scheduling, training and mentoring Master Control staff.
Maintain a working knowledge of Dalet Automation, Master Control Switchers, routers, test and monitoring equipment, video playout servers, VTR's, and ingest and archival technology utilized by the company.
Conduct discrepancy investigation, troubleshooting, escalation and reporting of service interruptions.
Report problems and issues to management when they arise.
Supervise the preparation of material for air including programs, PSAs and promotional spots.
Responsible for on-air operation, program switching, spot insertion, commercial triggers, and monitoring transmission.
Responsible for acquisition of programming from satellite and file based delivery mechanisms.
Act as liaisons between departments and remotes.
Relief of Master Control Operators and Media Operators as needed.
Ensure scheduling systems are optimally functioning, maintained, kept up to date and secured.
Ensure proper formats are followed during live and playback of automated playlists.
Make promotion changes whenever necessary.
Follow contingencies provided by Programming and fill airtime with contingency conditions during delays or technical difficulties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Extensive technical knowledge and be adept at proactively identifying and resolving issues
Operational knowledge of production equipment and automation systems
Firm grasp of on-air broadcast workflows and systems including master control and media operations
Experience with video cameras, studio, production, and post production equipment and software
Knowledge of production based video and audio equipment
Understanding of traffic logs and procedures
Understanding of Dalet asset production and news room tools
Ability to independently make log changes based on network requirements and needs
Ability to supervise and motivate others
Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
Effective written and oral communication skills
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field or comparable television network experience
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Broadcast Network and Master Control - 4+
Preferred Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Supervisory or leadership experience - 1+
Working Conditions
Normal office environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

$55,440.00 and $88,660.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
