This role is accountable for the delivery and execution of the brand strategy across all brands within Industrial Wood EMEAl as well as driving the execution of the plans for each of the sales channels. This ensures the marketing, and sales teams have a long-term vision and aligned key objectives to deliver maximum value and ROI for each project/activity

Executing the brand and channel strategy will result in profitably growing Sherwin-Williams share of the market for the Industrial Wood Coatings Division by effectively and efficiently aligning resources with opportunities.  Key metrics includes sales growth in excess of market growth rates, margin growth, and new product sales growth.

The position provides strategic leadership for Sales, R&D and Product Management teams in the region. It serves as a key member of the EMEAI Marketing leadership organization.

Responsibilities

 

  1. Drive Execution of Brand Management Strategy 

  • Responsible for the development, growth and execution of all brands. 

  • Aligns with product marketing team on NPD projects ensuring brand fit and representation in packaging, messaging and campaigns.

  • Partners with Sales Directors to drive and create full marketing plan, ensuring it meets marketing objectives and supports sales teams appropriately to achieve goals. 

  • Confidently manage and influence stakeholders to ensure marketing plans are fit for purpose and take a long-term brand view as well as short terms commercial needs. 

  • Works closely with the Communications Marketing team to ensure overall marketing plan is activated across all customer touch points 

  • Align with Marketing Communications, for campaign execution, monitoring and improvement in social and digital channels. Works closely with Digital and Social manager on long-term website and digital development roadmap in line with brand plans.

  • Works closely with the Segment, Communication and Product Managers to ensure overall marketing plan is activated across all brands.

  1. Drive Execution of the Channel Strategy

  • Works closely with Sales Directors and Country Managers to plan annual channel plan and activity, ensuring channel plan is fit for Sales purpose

  • Work with the Segment Managers to agree the strategic channel plans, key activity and support plans for each channel to meet sales objectives.

  • With support of the Marketing Operations team define and influence the customer story for each channel for new product launches and make sure tools are created for the sales teams to present effectively.

  • Build excellent relationships across all brands internally to influence and ensure full buy in to agreed channel plans.

  • Translate customer needs and drive solutions that deliver return on investment and increased sales in partnership with direct selling team.

  • Deliver the relevant channel vision in line with the customers business focus/needs.

  • Develop contacts and partnerships/relationships within key customers to aid acceptance and implementation of our activity and plans in alignment with the sales team.

 

  1. Gain Marketing Insights

  • Develop knowledge of the markets, categories and competitors and geographies to drive strategic plans

  • Develop knowledge of the customers in our channels and how we can win in each channel

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of key customers and their needs

  • Translate trends and innovation (internal & external) in the marketing area in our internal tools, processes and ways of working

 

  1. Team Leadership

  • To lead, coach and manage direct reports actively coach and instruct team members.

  • Actively build individual development and succession plans for the organization to deliver on growth ambition.

  • Create an engaging environment that supports our core Industrial Wood Values

  • Drive performance evaluation and personal development of your direct reports

 

  1. Budgetary control

  • Manage relevant parts of the marketing budget.

  • Implement best practice with our suppliers / marketing team

  • Implement value add tools and practices

Qualifications

 

  1. FORMAL EDUCATION:

  • University bachelor’s degree in business administration / marketing or equivalent is required. 

  • Minimal 8-10 years relevant business or industry experience required with technical /chemical background, 10-15 years business or industry experience, preferred in coatings, chemicals. 

  • Sales and/or marketing experience in B2B required, preferably 5-10 years in marketing or segment management in B2B environment in coatings, chemical or polymer business. 

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills required, additional language preferred 

 

  1. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Channel and brand marketing experience 

  • Customer facing experience

  • Experience of working with large and diverse sales teams

  • Ability to manage projects and take internal customers with you i.e. effective interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects and demanding deadlines

  • Ability to quickly adapt and optimize the use of new technology and systems.

  • Experience of working in the woodcare sector an advantage

  • Must hold a driving license

 

  1. TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required

  • Very proficient with Excel, Powerpoint, Microsoft Strategy, SFDC etc

  • Initiate and take insights from market analysis/research.

  • Strong presentation abilities

 

  1. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 20% of the time
