Role Summary and Impact
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative and driven Communications Executive with a passion for media and advertising to join our UK team. The ideal candidate will have fantastic communication skills, excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple projects at once. This individual will play an integral role in our team and will have a wealth of opportunities to make active contributions to the marketing and communications strategy in order to grow the business.
The WPP Media Marketing & Communications team are responsible for WPP Media’s market reputation and influence within the advertising industry. We are looking for someone who’s not afraid to get stuck in and share ideas. A key part of the role is being able to handle a fast-moving, constantly changing environment. Working across a range of areas, the successful candidate must be able to effectively prioritise and flex and adapt workload based on the needs of the team and be comfortable with managing the teams’ expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the VP Communications and Senior Communications Director drafting speaker pitches and pre-event briefings.
- Support gathering and editing awards, including materials and story sourcing.
- Create case studies – see out end to end storytelling of the case study (powerpoint, social media, working with video team to tell the story, looking for PR opportunities etc).
- Draft social media posts for our WPP Media LinkedIn and Instagram channels, including basic design. Help manage plans and strategies for all social media platforms and monitor channel performance.
- Write and proofread marketing copy.
- Maintain WPP Media website with news, thought leadership and case studies.
- Help to manage our UK PR agency and external media relations enquiries.
- Share UK focused stories and thought leadership on internal channels (for global visibility).
- Support the People Communications Director with managing Employee Community Groups (ECGs), including encouraging sign up and showing culture across the group.
- Writing ad-hoc internal communications to go out to the company, helping to support the communications needs of disciplines such as HR, Payroll, IT as well as cultural events.
- Help curate weekly internal newsletters, including copywriting, basic design and story sourcing.
- Contribute towards our employee engagement activities.
- Help develop relationships across the business to proactively surface interesting stories to spotlight.
- Research, analyse, and report current marketing trends and share them with the team.
- Help to drive new initiatives that will increase engagement and growth with our core audiences – clients (marketers), employees and the rest of the industry.
Other Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with the wider Marketing and Communications team based in the UK.
- Assist with general team day-to-day queries and be the first point of contact for key stakeholders.
- Maintaining correct contact lists for internal and external communications.
- Support the team with general admin tasks, as and when required.
- Have a strong understanding of what the team is working on at any given time.
- Active participation in ideas sessions, brainstorms and future planning.
