At Modo Energy, we're building the global standard for benchmarking and valuing the world's electrification assets - unlocking returns for battery energy storage, solar, wind and data centres.

The role

The Market Analyst will be an existing market participant who wants to use their knowledge and expertise to help produce novel, industry-standard research and analysis. On top of this, they will be working in collaboration with Modo Energy data, modeling, and product teams to help plan and build data analytics products that will revolutionize the workflow of others across the power industry.

Modo Energy tools are used to help organizations finance, build, benchmark, and operate battery energy storage systems. Therefore, this role represents an opportunity for the successful candidate to become a highly influential thought leader within the space. You will have a huge influence on the company (and, by extension, the industry) as we expand our research and product offerings to APAC power markets. And you will be helping to build a product that every market participant uses.

Responsibilities

  • Producing data-led, analytical content about power markets, in a variety of formats - but mainly written articles and videos - to communicate high-value insights to our audience.
  • Assessing an investment case for storage and other energy transition technologies to enable companies to derisk and optimise their growth into energy markets.
  • Getting to know our users, building your network, and staying up to date with the latest developments in the clean energy industry.
  • Working collaboratively with teams across the business, to make sure that all aspects of the organization are pulling in the same direction and giving our users huge value across all of our product, content, and customer-facing endeavors.
Qualifications
  • Professional-level fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 1+ years of professional working experience in power markets.
  • In-depth knowledge of how the electricity system works, and how power is traded - preferably with some experience of how battery energy storage systems earn money - in Japan, India or another key APAC market.
  • Experience carrying out complex data analysis in Python.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills. You’ll be relied upon to discover, explore, visualize, and communicate trends and patterns you find in numerical data, in ways that provide value to our users.
  • Strong critical thinking skills. At Modo Energy, you will have the platform to become an influential thought leader within the renewable energy space - but you’ll need to be able to develop your own thoughtful opinions, and ask insightful questions of those around you (internally and externally).
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience in writing clearly and concisely - to distill and communicate complex topics into accessible, jargon-free language.
    • Japanese language proficiency

Important Details

  • The role will be London-based with occasional travel to APAC for conferences
  • We are an in-person company that values collaboration and team culture. Everyone works in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with flexibility to work from home or the office on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Modo Energy offers a competitive salary, potentially life-changing equity package and top of market benefits.
