At Mustard Systems, we leverage statistical modelling to make informed predictions about cricket matches and use custom-built trading software to capitalise on opportunities in the market. We believe there is significant potential for growth by expanding and improving our market access, and we are looking for an experienced Product Owner to lead this effort.

Working closely with a highly talented development team you will:

  • Set the strategic vision for growing our access to global liquidity sources
  • Discover and build relationships with business critical suppliers and manage their expectations alongside internal stakeholders
  • Build and oversee operations and monitoring to ensure efficient day to day use of the products
  • Define what our trading systems need to achieve and work with developers to translate this into deliverable technical specifications, including non-functional requirements
  • Represent the needs of the business to the team; curate and prioritise the backlog of work delivered in fortnightly sprints and own when work can be considered complete
  • Contribute to the wider product vision in a team of three product owners and a Head of Product

This is a high-autonomy role with the opportunity to build a strategically important productarea and influence how we operate. The product connects real-time betting opportunities, internal trading teams and external suppliers:

  • The team develops and maintains low latency real-time data feeds about available betting opportunities then provides the tooling to safely take advantage of them at scale
  • Your customers are internal development teams and traders whose products, using our best-in-class predictions, decide which bets should be placed
  • External suppliers enable our access to these opportunities - it’ll be your job to represent our trading needs to them and understand their constraints

This role will suit someone curious and analytical, who is commercially minded. We’re looking for someone who isn't afraid to challenge existing processes and can bring new ideas on board.

Requirements
  • Previous product ownership experience - ideally in a technology B2B/trading environment
  • Be a decision maker, specifically when it comes to the direction of the product when technical or delivery feasibility forces trade-offs
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders
  • You can set and own both functional and non-functional requirements
  • You’re a quick learner - able to gain new product context quickly and have a constant
  • drive to improve
  • Excellent judgement on detail: you know which details matter, check them carefully, and catch issues before they become problems for the business
  • Willing to travel for a few days 2-3 times a year to meet suppliers

Nice-to-haves :

  • PO experience of a product with no obvious UI such as an API
  • Comfortable using Python and Jupyter notebooks, with AI assistance where useful, to analyse product performance
  • An understanding of value betting
  • An interest in cricket

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and significant bonus potential
  • Enhanced pension match with salary sacrifice option.
  • Health insurance and life assurance.
  • Sabbatical leave after five years.
  • 33 days of annual leave (including bank holidays).
