Managing Director (MD)

Company: Boxbar

Location: UK (West Yorkshire HQ) with international travel

Reporting to: CEO

Package: £90,000 - £110,000 + Car + Share Options

The Opportunity

Boxbar is a high-growth, category-defining technology company transforming how drinks are served across global venues, stadiums, and events.

With proven deployments across the UK, US, Australia, Europe and the Middle East, and strong traction with major operators. The business is entering a critical scale phase. The product is robust, demand is real, and the focus is now on execution at scale.

We are seeking a top-tier Managing Director to partner with the CEO and lead the business through this next stage, driving commercial performance, aligning operations, and building a world-class execution engine.

This is a high-impact, high-accountability role suited to a leader who has operated at pace in growth environments and knows how to turn momentum into sustained scale.

The Role

The Managing Director will take responsibility for overall business performance, ensuring that commercial success, client outcomes, and operational delivery are tightly aligned.

This is a cross-business leadership position, leading through senior operators and holding the organisation to a high standard of execution.

Key focus areas:

Commercial Performance
  • Oversee the performance of the Sales function
  • Drive revenue growth across core and international markets
  • Lead enterprise sales strategy and major deal conversion
  • Ensure robust pipeline, forecasting discipline, and pricing strategy
  • Build and deepen strategic partnerships with major venue groups and operators
Client Success Oversight
  • Oversee the performance of the client success function via the VP Client Success
  • Ensure clients achieve clear ROI and long-term value from deployments
  • Maintain strong executive relationships with key accounts
  • Drive retention, expansion, and referenceability
Operational Alignment & Delivery
  • Dotted line responsibility of operational execution via the VP Technical Operations
  • Ensure installations, servicing, and event delivery meet high-quality and consistency standards
  • Implement performance frameworks, KPIs, and reporting across operations
  • Drive scalability across multiple regions
Manufacturing & Scale
  • Ensure manufacturing and supply chain are aligned to commercial demand
  • Drive improvements in unit economics, cost control, and delivery timelines
  • Work closely with product and engineering to support scalable rollout
Leadership & Execution
  • Lead and align a senior leadership team across commercial, client success, and operations
  • Instil discipline, accountability, and pace across the organisation
  • Translate strategy into clear, executable plans
  • Act as a key partner to the CEO on growth and scaling priorities
Candidate ProfileEssential
  • Proven MD / GM / COO experience in a high-growth, scaling business
  • Strong commercial track record—closing and structuring large enterprise deals
  • Deep experience in operational environments with real-world delivery
  • Background in hospitality, venues, events, retail, or multi-site operations
  • Experience leading through senior functional heads (not just direct execution)
  • Full P&L ownership and strong financial discipline
Highly Attractive
  • Experience in hardware-enabled or tech-enabled physical products
  • Exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, or deployment at scale
  • Familiarity with payments, POS, or frictionless retail environments
  • International scaling experience (US, Middle East, Europe)
Leadership Characteristics
  • Highly commercial, but grounded in operational reality
  • Demands high standards and drives accountability
  • Structured, process-driven, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Strong presence with clients, partners, and investors
  • Hands-on when needed, but leads through others
Why This Role is Compelling
  • Category-defining product with clear market pull
  • Strong existing traction and blue-chip partnerships
  • Business is entering a true scale phase, not early experimentation
  • Opportunity to build and lead a global operational engine
  • Direct impact on the company's growth trajectory and international expansion
