Essential Job Functions

The Manager, Sales & Solutions Engineer is responsible for the support of a successful development and execution of a technical solutions program. This key sales solutions & engineering team member will evidence a track record of measurable sophisticated solutions and engineering experience. A strategic problem solver and specialist at tactical execution with ideally strong communication and presentation skills across the spectrum of Vantage various teams. Experience with wholesale data centers, colocation, interconnection, cloud, managed solutions and professional services preferred otherwise experience within critical environments like nuclear plants, hospitals, submarines would be desired.

Duties

  • Supporting the Sales and Solutions Engineering leads in presales activities, particularly with the hyperscale cloud customers as well as smaller customers
  • Actively participate in the internal RFP process with Vantage teams
  • Design proposal templates incorporating Vantage’s latest schematics, diagrams, and features
  • Develop all technical support for the sales team
  • Work with client requirements regarding capacity needs and timing; coordinate those requirements with the capabilities of VDC
  • Maintain a current understanding of the build schedule of all developments across Europe by collaborating with the Senior Director, New Development (Europe).
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to Solutions Engineering by building and growing the role to meet the needs of VDC and its customers
  • Prepares and delivers technical proposals, design architectural overviews
  • Accountable for driving opportunities by supporting Sales teams in designing, positioning, and proving technology solutions.
  • Articulates and conducts in-depth product feature benefit discussions as they relate to Vantage data center offerings.
  • Engineer solutions which demonstrate cost reductions and operational improvements.
  • Engages in detailed network, power, cooling, and space assessment of customer's current and proposed IT environments.
  • Prepares and delivers technical proposals, design architectural overviews, and assists with in- depth guided tours of facilities for existing and potential customers

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Experience in designing critical infrastructure or Data centers will be strongly preferred.
  • Excellent power point presentation skills and a feeling for aesthetics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with and present information to the team and the customers (especially in remote team set-up).
  • Orientation to detail with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Excellent multitasking skills.
  • Inquisitive mindset.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving ability.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships effectively.
  • Drive for continuous improvement.
  • Openness to understand the data center business.
