JOB TITLE: Manager - Regulatory Controls, CIB Chief Control Office

SALARY: £65,000 - £84,000 (dependent on experience and location)

LOCATIONS: Edinburgh / Birmingham / London

HOURS: Full-Time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

This role is in our Regulatory Controls team in the Chief Controls Office (CCO) in Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB). The team investigates regulatory developments, assesses their impacts on CIB's control environment and identifies control solutions to ensure our continued adherence with regulatory requirements.

We're seeking a regulatory subject matter expert who will ensure CIB remain aware of regulatory requirements, facilitates the effective and efficient operation of controls relied on by regulations, and is involved projects with regulatory considerations, as CIB seeks to implement the Group’s strategy to grow, focus and change at pace.

What You’ll Do

  • Use your Regulatory expertise to support management in providing responses to Regulatory enquiries, responses and examinations

  • Provide support and guidance to CIB colleagues in response to regulatory queries

  • Build and maintain a cross-functional network to support and coordinate applicable regulatory controls

  • Assess the applicability of Horizon Scanning activities for CIB through a control perspective

  • Provide support to Product, Risk and Control Owners relating to regulatory mapping of controls within Risk Open Pages

  • Maintain a Regulatory SharePoint and build regulatory controls MI and trigger outputs, with the use of Power BI Dashboards

  • Support wider CIB ad hoc projects when required, to provide Regulatory Control inputs.

  • Deputise for management at relevant meetings and liaise with Risk Specialists regarding any regulatory developments, changes or enquiries.

What We’re Looking For

A driven, independent individual, with a passion for understanding regulatory texts and their applicability to CIB.

You'll Need:

  • Strong Regulatory expertise pertaining to our CIB business (e.g. Ringfencing, MiFID, MAR, Dodd Frank etc)

  • Analytical and interpretation – you'll identify relevant regulatory developments of UK, EU and US regulators as these apply to CIB

  • Build effective working relationships with key contacts across CIB and other business functions (e.g. BCB, GCOO, Consumer Relationships)

  • You should have a good technical knowledge of using external regulator webpages (e.g. FCA and PRA)

  • Verbal and Written Communication - excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to disseminate often technical information

  • An ability to prioritise and multi-task, sometimes having to deliver in tight timeframes

  • A strategic mindset, with a curiosity to automate and simplify controls.

Desirable Skills:

  • Organisational Awareness – understanding the CIB businesses is advantageous within the role.

  • Awareness and involvement with Industry Association in previous roles
