The Manager Portfolio Manager - Project, Product and Department Financials will support, manage, and track financials for the Workforce Technology organization, overseeing department, product and project financials across a diverse portfolio of product, platforms and services to empower the HR organization of the Walt Disney Company. This role will provide financial oversight, manage reporting, and drive financial process efficiencies across workforce technology programs, products, and workstreams. Additionally, the role will establish and standardize financial processes to optimize project and product financial management within Workforce Technology.
This role is ideal for an experienced Technology Portfolio manager with a passion for financial governance, process optimization, and technology. The candidate will leverage their expertise in PPM systems, financial planning, and cross-functional leadership to drive financial success within Workforce Technology.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead budget planning, actuals tracking, and forecast processes for both capital and expense, ensuring accurate financial reporting for products, programs, projects, and departmental operations.
  • Own the five-year planning, Annual Operating Expense (AOP), and Capital Planning exercises, aligning enterprise technology financial strategy informed by critical business outcomes
  • Oversee portfolios, programs, and projects with high complexity and large budgets exceeding $50M.
  • Conduct financial analysis to evaluate project and product cost impact, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Help optimize HR tech transformation budget to achieve outcomes aligned to HR business focus areas and goals
  • Drive adoption and enhancement of Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) tools to improve financial tracking and reporting.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including leadership, finance, demand management, product controllers and project managers, to ensure financial transparency and data-driven decision-making.
  • Consult with and advise delivery managers, directors, project managers, product managers and project controllers through the PAR approval process and ensure accurate financial tracking to commitments for projects and programs

  • Maintain and enhance financial reporting dashboards (Clarity, PowerBI, Smartsheet, Jaspersoft) to provide real-time visibility into financial performance.
  • Utilize advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookups, financial modeling) and SAP to develop robust financial tools for budget and forecast management.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives, ensuring effective implementation and adoption of best practices.
  • Lead project financial governance efforts, including resource capacity planning, financial risk assessment, and cost controls.
  • Collaborate with procurement, vendor management, and finance teams to manage purchase orders, accruals, and vendor contracts.
  • Act as a change agent, advocating for continuous process improvement and financial efficiency within the technology organization.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in technology financial management, overseeing product, program and department budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting within a large enterprise.
  • 2+ years managing a team of financial analysts
  • Proven expertise in program and department cost optimization, financial planning, and PPM implementation with a track record of driving process improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, capital vs. expense funding, and financial governance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookups, SumIFs, financial modeling) and SAP financial modules (CJI3, CN43N, ME23N, KSB1).
  • Experience leading large-scale technology initiatives, with expertise in financial modeling, variance analysis, and financial tracking.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive reporting skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
  • Experience working in agile and devOps organizations and supporting financial needs in technology transformation programs.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a large matrixed organization and managing a team of up to 5 direct reports.
  • Expertise in financial reporting and analytics tools (PowerBI, Jaspersoft, Smartsheet, Confluence).
  • Experience supporting PPM tools (Clarity PPM, Jira, ServiceNow, Power Automate, Visio).
  • Previous experience at Disney or within the entertainment industry is a plus.
  • Strong familiarity of the Project and/or Capital Authorization Request process within Disney
  • PMI or Scrum Alliance certifications (PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or equivalent)


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • An MBA is a plus.


#DISNEYTECH
The hiring range for this position in California is $113,800 - $152,500 per year and in Washington is $119,200 - $159,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
