The Team:
The Controllership organization is a key team within Celonis, responsible for global accounting, tax, and shared services. The statutory accounting team in particular plays a critical role in ensuring quality financial statements that are in adherence with local regulations. This role reports to the Director of Accounting and is based out of our Madrid office, where our entire statutory accounting team is based.
The Role:
We are looking for a Manager, International Statutory Reporting to join our team and oversee the end-to-end preparation of statutory financial statements, ensure the successful completion of statutory audits, manage the relationship with external auditors, and ensure our reporting aligns with both local regulatory requirements and international standards. We place high value on filing compliant, quality financial statements on time.
The work you’ll do:
- Lead the preparation, audit, and filing of our annual statutory financial statements for assigned legal entities (approximately 8 legal entities)
- Ensure all reporting is compliant with IFRS and Local GAAP where applicable. Stay ahead of new accounting standards to ensure the ability to implement necessary changes in a timely manner
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing efficient audit processes
- Partner with other departments (including tax, legal, and technical accounting) to support mandated local reporting requirements
- Drive automation in the financial reporting cycle to reduce manual touchpoint (assist with ongoing Workiva implementation)
The qualifications you need:
- 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably 3+ in statutory reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- ACA or ACA and/or Big 4 background a plus
- Prior experience with Workday or Workiva is a plus
- Strong understanding of IFRS and local reporting frameworks, preference given to those with experience with German GAAP (and German speaking)
- An eagle eye for discrepancies and a commitment to precision
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure; dependable with deliverables and deadlines, able to multi-task
