We have state-of-the art manufacturing facilities in Luton & Peterlee.

As a result of continued growth and expansion, we have an excellent opportunity to appoint Finance Manager – Imports in our Finance Department at our Head office based in Berkhamsted.

About the Role

We are looking for Finance Manager – Imports who is keen to enhance their career with a challenging profile. This role will be based on a rolling contract to begin with and potential to become permanent in future. The role will involve meticulous planning and execution of various activities. The role will also involve working with other departments regularly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluation business processes and systems relating to all aspects of Import and Export control
  • Working with the business leaders to produce, publicise and maintain a clear strategy and prioritised roadmap for achieving and maintaining total efficiency across the department
  • Liaise for Import, Export and Road Transport for air and sea shipments
  • Monitor import clearance and documentation from all suppliers including Direct Shipments
  • Completing import and export customs entries
  • Liaise with shipping lines to minimise port/demurrage charges
  • Issuing/ Managing shipping instruction to ensure quick delivery times
  • Check all transport invoices and ensure accurate posting on the system
  • Check VAT deferment statements
  • Produce monthly MI reports for Financial Controller
  • Responsible for the import and export documentation
  • Negotiating with carriers
  • Maintain the highest possible standards of operational data integrity within the company information management systems
  • Identifying procedural issues and initiating relevant process improvement actions

About You

  • With significant experience working in an import/export role, ideally within a pharmaceutical GMP compliant manufacturing organisation/ FMCG/ Chemical industry or freight forwarding company.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel & Sage
  • As a person, you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and navigate cultural differences with ease.
  • With strong organisation and administration skills, you make good decisions, have a strong eye for detail and can prioritise a busy workload to meet deadlines.
