Job Description
• Ensure that the applicable legal entities under your responsibility are controlled in accordance with USGAAP and local reporting standards:
o Provide oversight over the legal entities
o Focus on Trial Balance accuracy
o Review of balance sheet reconciliations
o Statutory reporting – overlay entries for service fees, bonuses and other adjustments
o While statutory reporting to authorities is not mandatory today we can be asked to provide statutory accounts at any point in time
• Assist with the preparation of budgets / forecasts at the legal entity level:
• Partnering with the Global Shared Services Centre (“GBSC”) to ensure complete, accurate and timely accounting records for the legal entities under scope
• Ensure that the legal entities are appropriately funded
• Oversee the banking administration for the legal entity
• Support the Tax team by ensuring that related accounting is correct, tax audits are supported and that the regions’ tax submissions are in compliance with local regulations
• Support any applicable regulatory inquiries or reporting requirements
• Support the regional controller with quarterly reporting responsibilities to the Global Corporate Controllers’ team
• Evaluate the transactions going through the legal entities are appropriate and provide the business with support for any new transactions and flows
• Support any process or control improvements related to these entities
• Ensure that the legal entity is following processes and procedures that are standard and in line with Mastercard practices
• Review accounting & finance processes and look for opportunities for improvement or enhancements and
• Document all controller related processes and procedures for the legal entities in scope
Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree preferred. Qualified Accountant (ACA, AMCA, ACCA)
• Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements and financial reporting requirements and consistently delivers accurate work on a timely basis
• Experience reviewing and analyzing work for appropriate accounting treatment
• Experience implementing and suggesting process improvements
• Experience performing basic issue resolution; gains exposure to the resolution of complex issues
• Experience executing controls and assessing their effectiveness, makes recommendations to improve upon areas of concern
• Proactively builds relationships with business partners
• May produce and review internal and external reports with a moderate level of complexity to ensure compliance
• Advanced MS Excel skills essential
• Experience in statutory reporting with IFRS and US GAAP experience
• Oracle/Hyperion skills beneficial
