Job Description

The Manager, Commercial Execution – EDM is responsible for enabling, coordinating, and governing the execution of approved commercial strategies across EDM priority markets. The role supports consistent execution, performance management, and operational discipline by applying insights, strengthening operating cadence, and enabling effective cross‑functional and distributor collaboration.

This role does not hold accountability for commercial strategy definition, pricing, trade terms, distributor contract negotiation, or P&L ownership. These responsibilities remain with the EDM Commercial Lead and other designated senior commercial leadership roles.

The role reports to the EDM Commercial Lead and works closely with Product, Business Analytics, Finance, Medical, Value & Access, Legal, Regulatory, IT, and Global Commercial Operations teams to support execution quality, governance, and delivery across the EDM portfolio.

Role Scope and Accountability

The Manager, Commercial Execution operates within a clearly defined execution and governance remit. The role supports consistency, transparency, and operational discipline in how commercial strategies are implemented across distributor markets, without assuming ownership of strategic, financial, trade, or contractual decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Execution & Performance Enablement

  • Enable execution of approved commercial strategies and priorities across EDM markets

  • Establish and maintain execution frameworks, including KPIs, performance tracking, and operating cadence

  • Apply insights from Product, Business Analytics, and Finance teams to identify execution priorities, corrective actions, and follow‑up plans

  • Support Omnichannel execution by using performance insights to improve engagement effectiveness, channel mix, and execution quality

  • Governance & Cross‑Functional Coordination

  • Prepare and support distributor performance reviews and governance forums with focus on execution quality, accountability, and delivery

  • Support governance discussions; final decisions and approvals rest with designated senior commercial leadership

  • Coordinate cross‑functional commercial initiatives, including scope definition, timelines, milestones, and dependencies

  • Drive alignment across Commercial, Finance, Medical, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure timely, high‑quality delivery of agreed initiatives

  • Operational Discipline & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and drive improvements to tools, processes, and ways of working that strengthen execution effectiveness

  • Support consistent application of execution standards and governance expectations across distributor markets

  • Translate complexity into clear execution priorities for stakeholders and partners

Leadership Expectations

Leadership at Gilead is demonstrated through impact, influence, and accountability, regardless of people‑management responsibility. Expectations include:

  • Influencing outcomes through expertise, insight, and collaboration in a matrixed environment

  • Applying sound business judgment to balance strategic intent with practical execution

  • Translating complexity into clarity to help teams focus on critical priorities

  • Providing constructive challenge while maintaining strong stakeholder partnerships

  • Demonstrating high standards of integrity, accountability, and compliance

  • Modelling Gilead’s values and ways of working

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and significant relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare environments

  • Experience in commercial execution, or related fields

  • Experience supporting complex, multi‑country or regional organizations and distributor‑led models

  • Exposure to omnichannel execution and performance measurement

  • Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards (e.g. ABPI Code)

  • Proficiency in English; additional European languages are a plus.

This job description outlines the core responsibilities and scope of the role and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Responsibilities may evolve in line with business needs, within the overall execution‑focused remit of the role.
