About the job:
The Manager of Collections and Recoveries Strategy is a high-impact, critical role responsible for setting the strategic direction and managing the financial impact of all collections and recovery operations. This leader will drive optimization to maximize the recovery of delinquent and charged-off accounts while maintaining a strict adherence to regulatory compliance and delivering a positive customer experience. Success in this role requires a strategic, results-oriented focus on optimizing efficiency and managing high-stakes external partner relationships.
What you get to do:
- Drive Collections & Recoveries Strategic Roadmaps: Define and lead the Collections and Recoveries strategy roadmap, leveraging data analytics to execute complex customer segmentation and design tailored, compliant collection approaches.
- Lead and Develop Talent: Directly manage a team, providing leadership, guidance, and training to foster a culture of accountability and professional growth.
- Own the Recoveries P&L: Develop, implement, and govern the end-to-end strategy for all charged-off loan recoveries, including internal operations and a network of external collection agencies. Negotiate, onboard, and manage external partners to augment internal capabilities and maximize net return on the portfolio.
- Govern Cross-Functional Initiatives: Act as the lead owner for high-priority, complex cross-functional initiatives (e.g., AI Collections Channel implementation, core system enhancements) to deliver quantifiable financial outcomes for OppFi.
- Executive Insight: Distill complex operational and performance data into clear, actionable executive updates, highlighting key risks and opportunities impacting portfolio health.
What you will bring to the team:
- 3+ Years of progressive experience in Collections or Recoveries Strategy within a FinTech or Financial Services environment, with a minimum of 2 years experience in a managerial or supervisory role
- Advanced ability to independently lead multiple high-priority projects concurrently, manage cross-functional stakeholder expectations (Risk, Legal, Operations, Bank Partners), and drive timely resolution.
- Ability to apply rigorous process and risk tools (Process Mapping, Project Planning) to complex problem statements and develop strategic, workable solutions.
- Expert knowledge and direct experience implementing strategies related to key federal regulations (FCRA, UDAAP, TILA, etc.).
