Role Overview
As a Business Development & Account Manager, you will be responsible for both growing existing partnerships and originating new business opportunities with acquirers and Payment Service Providers (PSPs) in the Netherlands payments ecosystem.
You will act as a strategic partner and commercial driver, managing key accounts while identifying new revenue streams, expanding payment acceptance, and delivering innovative solutions aligned with local market dynamics.
This role requires a balance of relationship management, commercial execution, and market development, working cross-functionally to deliver measurable impact for both partners and Mastercard.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Relationship Ownership• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned acquirers and PSP partners. • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with stakeholders across commercial, product, and operations teams. • Develop and execute account plans to grow partner performance and deepen collaboration. • Monitor partner performance (KPIs, volumes, revenue) and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
Business Development & Growth• Identify, originate, and drive new business opportunities across the Dutch market. • Expand Mastercard's acceptance footprint, transaction volumes, and revenue streams. • Leverage insights from the Netherlands payments ecosystem uncover growth opportunities. • Lead commercial negotiations and partnership expansions with new and existing partners.
Strategy, Solutions & Execution• Position and deliver Mastercard's products, value-added services, and innovation initiatives to partners. • Collaborate with internal teams (product, technology, compliance, marketing) to ensure successful implementation and go-to-market execution. • Support partners with technical and operational enablement where needed. • Track market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to inform strategy.
All About You• Experience in payments, fintech, or financial services, with a mix of account management and business development responsibilities. • Strong understanding of the Netherlands payments ecosystem, including PSPs, acquirers, and local payment methods. • Proven ability to grow existing accounts while generating new business opportunities. • Commercially driven with strong negotiation and relationship management skills. • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights into actionable plans. • Comfortable working in a matrix organization, collaborating across multiple teams. • Strong project management and execution skills, with a results-oriented mindset. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English and Dutch. • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or related field.
