We are looking for a Manager or Associate Director with experience related to data centres to support the delivery of client work and business development work across our fast-growing Asia-Pacific team based in Singapore.

You will work closely with team members to support our data centre clients on public policy, regulation, politics, and commercial strategy. There may also be opportunities to work with Flint’s other tech sector clients.

Data centre operators face a challenging policy and regulatory environment across Asia-Pacific. AI and cloud-based demand is driving rapid growth and investment, but delivering a return on this capital is becoming more complicated. In parts of the region, concerns over data centres’ impact on communities, on infrastructure, and on the environment are leading to policy change that impacts on how operators build and operate data centres. We are helping investors and operators of data centres to build understanding of the benefits they bring and to make the case to governments for policy frameworks that enable the growth of the sector.

You will have scope to engage with clients at the most senior levels. The role will provide an unparalleled opportunity to research and analyse the complex policy and political challenges our clients face and develop options and approaches to address those challenges, backing up recommendations with wider strategic and political analysis.

Flint provides an excellent professional and educational environment for people to accelerate their personal and career development. There will be space to engage in discussion and debates on substantive policy and political challenges, as well as significant scope for progression through the company.

You will join a rapidly growing team, with the opportunity to take ownership of tasks and contribute to the company’s growth in the region.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for candidates who have experience relevant to data centre policy. Relevant  issues include power availability and grid connection, permitting and licensing, water, sustainability, cybersecurity and resilience, and community sentiment and social licence to operate. We are not expecting candidates to have expertise in all of the above.

We welcome any candidates with experience working in relevant roles in the data centre sector, government departments, regulators, research firms, or other advisory roles. We will consider candidates from a range of functional backgrounds, including those with more technical industry backgrounds. For Manager / Associate Director level roles, we will consider candidates with a range of experience - from 4 - 9 years’ work experience – though this is a guide only and we will consider applications on a case-by-case basis.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong experience relevant to data centre policy.
  • The skills required to work on policy and regulation – the ability to research and analyse complex policy issues and to draft policy positions in a clear and structured way.
  • A professional background in the data centre sector, government, a regulator, consultancy, think tank, or industry body in managerial positions.
  • A proven track record of managing projects and teams in fast-paced, delivery-focussed environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – a flexible approach and the ability to work well across teams, both with colleagues and clients.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to identify new business opportunities and deliver commercially viable solutions to clients.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise advice to stakeholders, both in written and verbal form.
  • Fluency in English is required. Aptitude in other regional languages is desirable but not required (in particular, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese or Bahasa).
  • (desirable but not required) Connections to government officials and / or regulators working on data centre-related policy in at least one Asia-Pacific country or multilateral grouping.

TO APPLY

To be successful, please submit your CV with a short cover letter (max 600 words) by Friday 30 October. Use your cover letter to explain how your background is relevant to the role and include at least one paragraph on the policy and regulatory challenges facing the data centre sector in the Asia-Pacific region.

STANDING OUT

To be successful, please submit your CV and cover letter setting out:

  • Why you would like to join Flint.
  • How your experience and skills qualify you for this specific role and its requirements.
