About you:

As a company that has historically engaged in a high volume of M&A activity, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful financial integration of acquisitions into Access Group.

This position is responsible for reconciling and transitioning acquired companies' billing systems and contract books into Access Dimensions, overseeing revenue recognition processes, and managing the transition to business-as-usual operations.

The role relies on managing and maintaining strong relationships across the group, including our in- house M&A team, new acquisition Finance teams, Order to cash team and wider Commercial Finance teams.

Day-to-day, you will:  

  • Document and analyse potential integration issues through Internal Due Diligence (IDD) reports
  • Identify accounting policy differences (IFRS/US GAAP to FRS102, cash vs accrual basis) and plan alignment strategies
  • Develop high-level preliminary integration approaches for revenue processes
  • Analyse and understand different revenue streams including service delivery models (fixed, milestone, time & materials)
  • Identify variable revenue streams and hardware components
  • Lead discovery meetings alongside finance systems teams to understand acquired companies' order-to-cash processes
  • Reconcile opening contract books in Access contracts systems to closing positions from acquired systems using data analytics tools
  • Perform customer-level revenue reconciliation between new and legacy ERP systems
  • Reconcile open professional services projects to balance sheet positions and coordinate with Focal Point integration
  • Identify and process necessary fair value adjustments for deferred balances and revenue recognition differences
  • Help the new acquisition to produce Revenue by Customer by Product data to feed into our ongoing Snowball analysis
  • Oversee monthly revenue processes for up to 90 days post-integration
  • Work closely with M&A Business Partner Analysts, Order to Cash Projects & Acquisitions managers, and Divisional Financial Business Partners
  • Coordinate with group tax teams on intercompany recharges and transfer pricing implications
  • Transition integrated acquisitions to BAU revenue reporting teams with comprehensive documentation
  • Create detailed handover documentation covering product types, revenue streams, and ongoing requirements
  • Identify opportunities to enhance integration processes based on lessons learned

Your skills and experiences might also include:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP, FRS102, and revenue recognition principles
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets and reconciliations
  • Exceptional accuracy in financial reconciliations and data analysis
  • Ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Flexibility to work with diverse acquired companies and their unique challenges
  • Effective partnership with cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Experience with billing automation and revenue recognition software would be highly beneficial
  • Systems proficiency dealing with ERP systems, billing platforms, and data analysis tools would be a benefit
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP would be helpful
  • An audit background would be preferrable
