Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. The M&E Engineer - Coating will be focused on the Turnkey discipline dealing with various Turnkey contractors delivering in both NI and CI-BOP areas but will be interfaced with other disciplines and with several parties, such the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).
The role will be focused upon coating queries, non-conformances and coating optimisation - coordinating and leading the technical response for the client. The role will be interfaced with other disciplines and with several parties, such the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).
Key Responsibilities
Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the MEH Contractor on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed.
Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met.
Support the integrated team with technical assessment of contractor queries
Carry out nuclear safety and environmental assessment (categorisation) of queries
Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy.
Assist in co-ordinating support from other external organisations.
Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points.
Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline or experience in coating industry
Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.
Knowledge of the construction / installation industry.
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.
Ability to work independently, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.
