Logistics Operations Controller 

Full-Time

12-month secondment

Hybrid / Derby 3 days on-site

What you will be doing:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the On-Wing & Logistics team as a Logistics Operations Controller.

This team are primarily responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective movement of Aerospace Engines around the world, as well as the management of any associated warehousing activities.  

As a Logistics Operations Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising the movements of products in line with service level agreements. You will develop and communicate compliance requirements to our service providers as well as performance metrics to report on their performance. You will also ensure changes to logistics processes, functions and/or regulatory authorities are managed and communicated effectively.  Essentially, you will be the subject matter expert for all supporting logistics processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage 3PL services to ensure they are compliant and measure performance against these.
  • Provide reports to internal and external sources. Support defined projects in line with project milestone plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of the logistics dept budget and monitoring of spend to ensure they are aligned with the budget.
  • Manage, maintain & develop the appropriate working relationships with the functions and regulatory authorities to ensure we have appropriate business intelligence. 
  • Ensure compliance to defined business and regulatory rules, regulations and standards. Including the retention of records in line with internal and external requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, plan, prepare and manage any audit actions to close out within the agreed timescales.
  • Represent the function/company in internal and external discussions with regulatory authorities.
  • Update process documentation to reflect regulatory requirements.

  • Experience gained within logistics and familiarity of controlling logistics services in a 3PL environment.
  • Sound knowledge of logistics processes and systems
  • Experience of change management.
  • Ability to lead compliance activities with an awareness of regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record of delivering results within a logistics or operations environment.

The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate but is anticipated to be Derby grade 7 to 10.

This job is advertised at the grades shown, and this is the desired operating level for this role.
