Job Purpose:

BTIG Limited, a UK regulated broker-dealer, is seeking an in-house attorney for its London office. This person will be part of BTIG’s global Legal Department. This newly created role will primarily provide legal support to the firm’s growing Investment Banking and Capital Markets teams located in London, as well as support BTIG expanding investment banking and capital markets activity in Europe, including BTIG Norway’s investment banking activities. BTIG’s Legal Department is responsible for partnering with and providing legal counsel and advice with respect to the firm’s global business activities. The UK in-house legal role will be responsible for, and need to have experience with, advising on a broad range of Investment Banking and Capital Markets matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of documents including NDAs, engagement letters, and transaction documentation
  • Advise on deal structuring, diligence, documentation, and regulatory matters
  • Interface with internal business personnel, firm leadership, compliance, finance, operations and other departments within the firm, and will work closely with the firm’s U.S. based Legal personnel
  • Manage and supervise outside counsel to BTIG in connection with transactions and other firm business matters
  • Engagements may include emerging markets, equity and debt capital markets, private placements, public offerings, securitisations, advisory, and mergers and acquisitions

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales
  • 4+ years post qualification experience with relevant investment banking and capital markets experience working at a national or international law firm or financial institution
  • Ability to understand and be responsive to the business' needs and partner across control functions throughout the organisation
  • Sound business and legal judgment
  • Experience to assess legal risks while balancing business needs and providing practical advice
  • Comfort with problem solving and working with business teams to find solutions
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work independently
  • Willingness to grow and adapt capabilities as business grows and changes
  • Team player, confident and proactive
