An inclusive work environment is an empowering one. At Cutover, we lead with empathy and enable others to succeed through curiosity, kindness, and self-expression.

Location: This role is fully remote, but we would like you to be able to commute to our London office on occasion.

We regret that we are unable to provide work visa sponsorship at this time.

Cutover provides enterprise technology operations teams with an AI-powered SaaS solution that automates and streamlines complex processes with intelligent runbooks. The Cutover solution enables teams to respond to incidents quickly, recover from IT outages, and manage cloud migrations with precision and efficiency. Cutover is used in many of the world's largest financial institutions to support their critical technology operations, including 5 out of the top 6 largest asset managers and 3 out of the top 5 US banks.

What does this role mean to us?

This is a rare chance to own a broad, genuinely varied legal remit at a company whose technology runs some of the most critical operations in global finance. You'll be one of three people in a close-knit, high-trust legal team: which means autonomy, influence, and a front-row seat to how a scaling technology business works. One day you might be closing an enterprise deal with a major bank; the next, shaping how we approach AI, data and IP. You'll be the go-to partner for teams across Sales, Finance, People, Engineering, InfoSec and Product, turning knotty legal questions into clear, commercial answers that keep the business moving.

What will you be doing as our Legal Counsel?

No two weeks will look the same, but here’s a flavour of what you’ll get stuck into:

  • Drafting and maintaining a full suite of customer-facing documents, including order forms, master services agreements (MSAs), data processing agreements (DPAs) and service level agreements (SLAs) - and leading negotiations with sophisticated counterparties on those documents, balancing commercial goals with business risk mitigation.
  • Working closely with the General Counsel on strategic projects that shape how the business grows.
  • Supporting our Junior Legal Counsel in handling supplier and procurement contracts end to end, from NDAs through to negotiated vendor agreements, assessing and mitigating third-party risk.
  • Advising stakeholders across Sales, Finance, People, Engineering, InfoSec and Product on day-to-day legal questions, translating complex issues into practical, commercially-minded guidance.
  • Supporting data protection, AI and IP matters, including UK GDPR compliance, and safeguarding Cutover's proprietary technology.
  • Maintaining and improving contract templates, playbooks and legal processes to help the team work efficiently and at scale.
  • Managing legal risk across the contract lifecycle and knowing when to escalate, working closely with the wider team and external advisers where needed.
  • Supervising and developing our Junior Legal Counsel, sharing knowledge and helping them grow.
  • Taking ownership of our group insurance policies and helping support our Junior Legal Counsel to drive Cutover’s ESG programme.

What we'd like you to bring to the table…

We’re less interested in ticking every box than in finding the right person. If most of the below sounds like you, we’d love to talk:

  • A qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 2–4 years' PQE with strong training and preferably some in-house experience.
  • Proven commercial contracts experience gained in a SaaS or technology business, with confident handling of order forms, MSAs, DPAs, SLAs, supplier contracts and NDAs.
  • Experience in data protection, AI and IP, with the appetite to keep pace with a fast-moving regulatory landscape.
  • Exposure to businesses with a US footprint is preferred.
  • Experience either working within, or dealing with, highly regulated businesses is preferred (for example, businesses exposed to material outsourcing rules, DORA and/or the EU AI Act).
  • Experience of implementing and using legal tech to drive efficiency.
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage a high volume of varied work as part of a small, busy team, spanning both customer and supplier matters.
  • Strong technical legal ability combined with a commercial, pragmatic approach, and the communication skills to advise a wide range of non-legal stakeholders with clarity.
  • A willingness to mentor and support junior members of the legal team.
  • A collaborative working style, strong problem-solving skills, and a genuine keenness to learn and take ownership.
What’s in it for you…
  • We're excited to offer Share Options as part of our compensation package.
  • 25 days of PTO per year + public holidays.
  • 3 volunteer days to use for any charitable/voluntary cause you would like.
  • A top-tier private health insurance package available through salary sacrifice.
  • Aviva pension scheme.
  • Work from home stipends.
  • A personal learning and development budget through Learnerbly.
  • Comprehensive parental leave benefits designed to support growing families.
  • Employee Referral Scheme.
  • Access to The Circle Line, a mental wellbeing platform offering free therapy sessions.

Target compensation package: £75,000-85,000 + Benefits + Share Options

The final offer may vary from the target compensation package, taking into consideration factors such as your experience level and skill set. If we aren't aligned on salary at this stage, we'd still love to hear from you to better understand if there are more suitable opportunities at Cutover.

Diversity Statement - Empowering Our Teams

We encourage our team to bring their authentic selves to work, which we have found has strengthened workplace relationships and fostered a genuine sense of community.

If you are excited by this role, we invite you to apply! Even if your profile doesn't check all the boxes, please don't simply scroll past! We recognize that talent lies everywhere and that some demographic groups are more likely to apply for a "stretch role" than others. We are always open to different perspectives and professional backgrounds to keep Cutover's culture evolving and to ensure that we never stop learning.

Cutover is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Maintaining an equitable hiring process is imperative to our mission.
