We are looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Legal Counsel to join our fast-paced and fun Policy & Disputes team. The team is responsible for all legal cases brought against Trustpilot, anywhere in the world. We also take action against ‘bad actors’ - this is a unique opportunity to work both Claimant and Defendant cases in-house. 

As an essential component of the 'Trust & Safety' team at Trustpilot, we are central to the effort of positioning Trustpilot as the universal symbol of trust. Taking on the role of Legal Counsel within Trustpilot means holding an essential function that carries great possibilities for enacting impactful advancements. This role is based in our London office. Flexible working available, working 2 days a week in our office. 

As a Legal Counsel within our Policy & Disputes team, you'll dive into a diverse range of responsibilities that shape Trustpilot's legal landscape.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Defended Disputes Management - Take the helm on global disputes, resolving issues like defamation and regulatory compliance head-on
  • Strategic Litigation Support - Work closely with the team to craft and execute litigation strategies that resonate with Trustpilot's values, tailored to key markets including the UK, US, France, and Germany
  • Innovation and Efficiency Drive - Spearhead the quest for new, tech-driven approaches to enhance our operations, ensuring scalability and efficiency are always at the forefront
  • Pre-emptive Litigation Initiatives - Lead the charge in initiating and managing claims against businesses and bad actors engaging in harmful practices, safeguarding our platform's integrity
  • Intellectual Property Safeguarding: Have an integral part in protecting Trustpilot's intellectual property portfolio, from addressing infringements to strategically registering new assets
  • Regulatory Compliance Guidance: Provide invaluable advice and support to ensure our platform evolves in harmony with regulatory requirements
  • Policy Framework Development: Act as a linchpin in the creation, implementation, and ongoing review of our content moderation policies, ensuring they serve as robust safeguards for our platform's integrity


Who you are:

  • UK qualified solicitor looking for their first or second role in-house
  • Essential litigation experience
  • Ability to convey complex concepts in straightforward terms
  • Comfortable operating independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, global setting
  • Strong commercial acumen, understanding the business's value drivers
  • Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously in fast-paced environments, offering pragmatic advice under tight deadlines
  • Committed to enhance the legal department's value, providing proactive and insightful advice


Desirable Extras:

  • Has trained at a leading law firm, if you started your career in private practice.
  • In-house experience in a fast-paced technology environment.
  • Intellectual property experience
