What's exciting about the role

As a Legal Counsel, Payments at Verifone, you will be an integral member of our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) legal team, with a particular focus on our regulated payment services activities throughout Europe and the UK, though also in other regions with regulations that impact our payment services businesses generally.

You will collaborate closely with business leaders and the compliance team to identify and address regulatory risks associated with Verifone’s business operations and provide expert legal advice.

Key responsibilities:

  • Legal Risk Management: Collaborate with business leaders to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with Verifone's operations
  • Legal Advisory: Provide general legal advice on the company's operations, with a focus on compliance with local and international laws
  • Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial legal agreements, including hardware sales agreements, software license agreements, SaaS agreements, data protection agreements, and others
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the global compliance, litigation, employment, and IP law teams on matters overseen by those teams
Skills and Experience we desire
  • Fully qualified attorney in the UK, US, or any EU country
  • Minimum of 10 years legal experience split between a distinguished law firm and in-house at a company subject to EU or UK regulatory oversight, with a strong emphasis on payments-related regulation
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment and on multi-jurisdictional transactions is strongly preferred
  • Strong contract drafting skills in English is required and will be tested as part of the interview process
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a keen ability to learn and understand new products, services, and laws
