Senior Legal Counsel Responsibilities:
- Providing legal support and advice to local senior management and Group General Counsel on relevant legal issues for APAC and EU (non-UK) jurisdictions
- Assisting and dealing with trading matters e.g. reviewing trading agreements and liaising with relevant counterparties when appropriate
- Negotiating and reviewing commercial agreements such as data agreements, service agreements and terms of business
- Advising on the interpretation and assisting in the implementation of new regulation and legislation where relevant and working closely with the relevant teams
- Assisting with new projects including, the launch of new business lines where relevant to your region and globally where resource is needed (currently DORA and EU AI Act)
- Managing contentious work and other legal-related risks
- Dealing with any other non-trading related legal and contractual issues such as employment related issues, drafting local policies and assisting with local governance requirements and corporate filings, confidentiality agreements, property law, data privacy
- Managing a paralegal within the team
- Overseeing shareholder operations, working with the group legal team
- Where necessary, liaising with external counsel on any of the above;
- Working with the Local HR/Finance and other teams to ensure corporate compliance with various corporate disclosures as they arise
- Keeping up to date with current changes on all relevant areas of laws and contributing to the enhancement of the knowledge of the company’s legal function
