About Us:
We are Gett. We solve the most complex, real-life problems of urban transportation; as a talented, dynamic and multi-faceted community, we are here to challenge the norms of the industry with our technology and move it into the future.
We are very local. We integrate with the existing fabric of the places where we operate: we work hand-in-hand with the local taxis and fleets to provide the best possible service customers can get, where it matters the most.
We serve people who move constantly and we’re one of the best for the most demanding customers: business travellers. That’s where we started, building the best platform for the challenging needs of businesses. And then for anyone’s everyday needs: for drivers who make it their living - every day, and beyond.
About the role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and pragmatic lawyer to join our dynamic in-house Legal team as Legal Counsel. This is a supporting role designed for a Junior Lawyer (NQ to 1 year PQE) reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel.
This is a broad and varied role supporting Gett’s UK legal function. You will have exposure to a wide range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, procurement, data protection, IP, regulatory issues, disputes, as well as strategic and internal projects. You may be involved in projects such as business process reviews and audits, updating policies & procedures and other improvement projects. From a regulatory perspective, you will have the opportunity to learn about UK transportation regulation, including the London regulatory regime overseen by TfL.
You will focus on the foundational elements of in-house legal work: high-volume commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, and administrative compliance. You will have opportunities and be encouraged to work directly with stakeholders across B2B sales, operations, finance, HR, product and R&D teams.
Whilst you will be primarily providing support to the Legal team, you will receive support to help you develop your understanding of Gett’s business and the transportation/ mobility tech sector.
This is an ideal opportunity for an energetic lawyer with existing in-house experience to further their career in a fast-paced tech environment. We are looking for someone who combines high technical standards with a pragmatic, commercial mindset, and who thrives on building strong internal relationships with a wide range of business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Perform first-pass drafting and initial reviews of contracts as required, including but not limited to Vendor, Sales, Marketing and Supply side.
- Handle high-volume, day-to-day legal requests to ensure the business moves at pace.
- Support the Senior Legal Counsel with a wide range of matters required of the business’s legal function, including data protection matters, administrative compliance tasks, conduct research into new legislation, regulatory changes, and emerging legal issues, and assist on larger strategic projects as required such as business reviews and policy updates.
- Provide clear, common-sense legal summaries to non-legal stakeholders under the guidance of Senior Legal Counsel.
Technical and Behavioural Skills:
- Commercial, pragmatic, and flexible mindset.
- Highly organised and possessing strong time management and prioritisation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high standards in relation to legal documents and drafting – whilst remaining flexible and pragmatic.
- Comfortable working under an in-house environment where you can adapt and pivot between tasks as business priorities shift.
- Ability to communicate clearly to non-legal colleagues; support the mindset of creative solutions to problems broadly; and to set firm boundaries when required.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Qualified in the UK
- This role will be ideal for someone NQ to 1-year PQE
- Mandatory prior experience working in-house (either via a training seat, paralegal role, or secondment). Exceptional candidates from private practice with a demonstrable, long-term commitment to moving in-house may be considered.
- Experience in reviewing and drafting commercial contracts and dealing with data protection issues.
- Ability to draft legal documents to a high standard, with strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to build relationships, both internally and externally, with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills; diplomatic, enthusiastic, and able to meet challenges with a proactive approach.
- Ability to stay calm and effectively manage competing priorities under demanding, high-pressure and challenging circumstances.
Interview Process:
- Application Review - We aim to get back to you in 2 weeks of application, but depending on the volume of the applications this may take longer - please bear with us! 🙏
- First Call (30min video call) - This will be with Joe (Senior People & Talent Development Partner) He will talk about the role in more detail and ask around your motivations, experience in relation to the role and ask some competency based questions (proactiveness and attention to detail)
- Hiring Manager Interview/Task (1hr to include a short task) - This is where you get to meet your manager Alex (UK Head of Legal)/ Phoebe (Senior Legal Counsel) and they will delve deeper into your experience
- Final Interview (45min video call) - A short conversation with Chris (UK MD)
