The Opportunity:

Rimes is looking for a Legal Counsel to join our friendly legal team.  Reporting to the General Counsel, you will work closely with our sales, product, technology, information security and finance colleagues around the world.  This is a broad role and offers the right person the chance to learn new skills in a collaborative environment.

  What you will do:

  • Support our global sales and client account management on all aspects of contract negotiations and renewals, acting as their business partner - drafting, negotiating and advising on a range of client facing commercial agreements including data licensing, SaaS, data management outsourcing and associated NDAs, POC, contract variations
  • Manage compliance with our Contracts Policy and corporate governance framework and provide internal reports to the business on our legal risk position.
  • Support our data team on licence negotiations with our data partners
  • Negotiating supplier contracts (largely technology and software)
  • Support our Compliance Manager on company secretarial issues for our group companies around the world
  • Provide advice and guidance on intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance matters (such as DORA, EU AI Act)
  • Manage the outsourcing of matters to external law firms where necessary

 

Who you are:

  • You will be an English qualified solicitor (or have the right to practice in England). We are also happy to consider candidates who are admitted to the NY bar.    We envisage that candidates with between 2 – 6 years PQE plus will have the relevant skills / knowledge for this position, however this has been given as an approximate guide for applicants and we are happy to consider the applications of candidates who fall outside of this PQE range but who have the relevant experience.     
  • You will have had exposure to the financial services or technology sectors. An experience and understanding of corporate matters or working on cross-border matters are helpful.
  • Must thrive on working as a team, in a dynamic and fast moving environment and be enthusiastic about learning new skills.
  • Have the ability to communicate legal issues in a business-friendly way and influence key stakeholders.
  • Organised, commercially minded and be able to think creatively to find solutions and get deals across the line.
  • In-house experience (which may have been gained on secondment) preferred but not essential. Knowledge of Salesforce, Agiloft or Confluence would be an advantage.
