Job Description

This is a FTC legal role and we are looking to recruit a new junior lawyer (NQ – 3 PQE) with preference for expertise in financial services law, regulation and commercial contracts. The individual would have a direct reporting line into the Head of Legal as well as working with colleagues from the commercial and operations teams on contracts with clients. 

This is a full time role focused on providing legal advice and contract negotiation support but will include:

  1. drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including services agreements, addenda, termination deeds, NDAs, novation agreements;
  2. supporting and mentoring paralegals and trainee solicitors; 
  3. responding to ad hoc legal queries on business issues and corporate governance;
  4. conducting legal research where directed;
  5. assist in managing risk and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies; and
  6. provide support and assistance to wider Group Legal team as needed

Qualifications

Background experience 

  • Admitted to practice in England and Wales (with Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey or Isle of Man also considered)
  • Experience in corporate or commercial law either in a law firm or in house

Computer/program knowledge 

  • Microsoft Office 

Company, product and market knowledge 

  • Knowledge of and experience within the asset management and private equity industry very useful but not pre-requisite

Languages

  • Fluent in English
